This is going to be imploded (hard rock cranes).

Live stream here: https://www.cnn.com/specials/live-video-1?adkey=bn

Not much going on thus far.

I'm reading mixed reports. Are they imploding the cranes or the whole structure???

Thanks for the pictures of the WWII museum and canopy.

There is a group coming from my area to tour the museum. They are not going to NO to see anything else. I think that the museum is a huge draw for New Orleans for people like my friends who probably would not go there for any other reason.

That museum is a great addition to NO.

I could not agree more. The economic multiplier for the museum must be off the charts. Many thousands of tourists visit that normally would not have ever foot in New Orleans.

Regarding Hard Rock, since it was just a licensing deal with Kailas, I wonder if they will partner with another developer to build a hotel nearby. My first thought is maybe they could work out a deal with the State Palace to operate the venue with a bar/cafe in the retail spaces and hotel above. Or perhaps it would work as an anchor to the potential music corridor near Loyola/Poydras near the Little Gem/Eagle Saloon etc.

I am sure they are def out of the deal with those guys ... perhaps the piaza di italia proposal can be resurrected.. that was a better building and project over all anyways

Does anyone in their right mind really thing we will see the "Hard Rock" brand again? That would be marketing suicide. Yes, we know the collapse had nothing really to do with the brand, but the average joe does not.

Good riddance.

Not at That location but no reason to assume it wont show up elsewhere ... my guess is it returns as a part of some of the rfps for the convention center area... but u are def right that they wont as a brand go back to that location since its too
Tainted. The original MGM Las Vegas now the Ballys is a good example of whats likely to happen at that spot long term. I expect a hotel of some sort will be there but probably with new owners, completely new design and new hotel flag

MAYOR CANTRELL ISSUES STATEMENT ON SWBNO’S SELECTION FOR $111M FEDERAL LOAN
NEW ORLEANS — Mayor LaToya Cantrell today issued the following statement celebrating the Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans’ (SWBNO) selection for a $111 million federal water infrastructure loan to fund the full rehabilitation of New Orleans’ sanitary sewer system:

“Being selected by the WIFIA program and the EPA for this $111 million federal loan is a major win for Sewerage & Water Board and for the City of New Orleans,” said Mayor Cantrell. “This is the result of hard work and dedication. We fought hard and lobbied the federal government extensively for this. I want to thank New Orleans City Councilmember Jay H. Banks for all of his help and his voice, advocating for this. Infrastructure remains a top priority, and this puts us another step closer to addressing our critical needs.”

Under the Water Infrastructure Financing and Innovation Act (WIFIA) program, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) chose SWBNO to take part in its program, an effort that could yield up to $111 million to help the utility make its 2025 federal deadline to completely restore the sewer system. The EPA announced the award Tuesday, Oct. 22.

Charity Hospital Redevelopment:

went to meeting last night.. wasnt too much new to talk about really!

Main Points: Demo work is to start mid december

Actual Lease Agreement has been delivered to LSU and they hope to sign it at a meeting this Friday in Baton Rouge! I think any public announcements or any plans being filed will hinge on this being signed first! Once you have a deal things can move much quicker!

They have moved to phase 2 for Historic Tax Credits.. they expect full construction to take three years from december 2019... however thats everyhing .. many parts of the building expected to open much sooner...

theres a highschool component in it now and they still mention co working space.

they did mention a bit more about properties that are around charity too
