Lake Travis eatery Vincent's on the Lake to close

https://www.bizjournals.com/austin/n...-to-close.html

Vincent's on the Lake announced Sept. 23 it would be closing. The restaurant, a waterfront dining location on Lake Travis, made the announcement on its Facebook page.

According to the post, the closure was due to economic conditions and low water levels.

The restaurant said its last night would be Friday, Sept. 30.

Cheesesteak dumplings coming to East Austin; Barbecue, beer coming to South Austin

https://www.bizjournals.com/austin/n...-slab-bbq.html

Dumpling specialists inbound
Brooklyn Dumpling Shop, which is making a name for itself on the East Coast with non-traditional dumplings, is about to come to the Austin metro.

These dumplings are filled with flavors from peanut butter and jelly to Philly cheesesteak to French onion soup.

The first Brooklyn Dumpling Shop in Austin will be located near downtown at 1401 E. Sixth St., suite 201. That's in the new Centro building being developed by Riverside Resources.

...

Makers of barbecue, beer team up

Barbecue and craft beer could be the perfect recipe for Austinites. The people behind Slab BBQ and Nomadic Beerworks have figured out this is a surefire way to reach the hearts, and stomachs, of many residents.

Slab and Nomadic have partnered to create a predominantly outdoor restaurant and bar in South Austin, with opening set for Oct. 19. There will be two main structures with roughly 900 square feet of interior dining for Slab and about 2,700 square feet for Nomadic Beerworks on nearly two acres at 6218 Brodie Lane.

I'm looking forward to this. Hopefully he's gotten his life in order and won't be a pest to his employees anymore but he is so talented. Comedor hasn't been the same since his departure.

I literally don't care what goes in there - I am just happy it won't be an abandoned store-front anylonger.

I liked Le Politique the first time I went well enough, the second time the wine had clearly been open for days and the food was pretty miserable.

Mysterious Concept to Open in Downtown Austin

Quote:
Jupiter Supper Club, an upcoming restaurant, will soon be opening in downtown Austin, according to a recent filing with the State of Texas. The restaurant will be located at 718 Congress Avenue, near notable downtown establishments such as Higher Ground and Perry’s Steakhouse & Grille. The filing lists an estimated 6,070 square feet and an estimated $1,800,000 development and construction cost.

Fortunately, however, public information strongly suggests that hedge fund manager, film producer, and high-stakes poker player Bill Perkins is behind the venture. In early 2022, an account which seems to belong to Mr. Perkins tweeted “Jupiter Supper Club starts design today!!! Coming soon(ish) to 718 Congress Ave Austin Texas !!! We closed on our building!!!”

While no culinary profile for the restaurant was provided, when considering the expensive downtown location and its featuring of the words “Supper” and “Club”, it is safe to assume that it will be a fine-dining establishment, or a concept adjacent to fine-dining. It is also notable that the filing estimates that construction will not be completed until December 2023, suggesting that the establishment may not be functioning until 2024.

Looks like Hattie B's Hot Chicken (Nashville-base) is planning to park a new location on S. Lamar.
