2nd Tower?

Do we know for a fact that tower 2 is going to break ground soon? In another thread someone made the comment - but I couldn’t find anything to back up the statement. Would be very impressive if they can build this site out to completion vs just partially. Seems to me that with all the new residential downtown, we’re going to need a lot more mixed-used scenarios to fill in some services/shopping.

Muertecaza posted a site plan review a couple weeks ago for the 19 story tower. I think it's on the Phoenix Development thread...probably a few pages back.

Edit: Found the post.

Thanks! Odd there are no details - chances they are going for more height than originally planned due to demand? All three towers were residential, right?

There were some meetings with the locals about what they wanted to build prior to construction. The developer was quite good about discussing the project with the locals, so I don't think they would go taller without meeting with the locals again. If so, they probably would not go taller than the the current tower getting built.

On a side note, driving the freeway loop around Downtown, the crane looks amazing now at it's height. Link is really in a good spot to be visible from every direction. You will even be able to see it about the top 12 to 15 floors approaching the tunnel. We need more towers in Northern Downtown. I'm really hoping Ro2 and that Cloud 9 project gets off the ground.

The medical center tower really pops in that above photo too. I haven't been in town for a bit and it feels like it came out of nowhere.

So compared to the new crane height, how tall will Link get? Trying to figure out where the Link tops out. Hope it goes right up to the highest extension section of the crane.

PHX finally got it's observation tower -- the top floors of The Link.

You're basically on an island until the surrounding lots get developed over the next decade or so. Those views are going to be incredible.

The crane is currently at 400'. It's as high as it will go.

BTW--it was previously reported that Phase 2 was 19 stories. Downtown Phoenix.org lists phase 2 as 25 stories.

I gotta wonder if they're just gonna move the crane over.

About 1 1/2 sections below the jib would be about right.

So how reliable is that source? Wonder if they chose to add some height or if they are referring to the 3rd tower which looked about 25 stories based on the original renders.

It’d be great if we got all 3.
