Gonna have to disagree with your hot take on this one.
Given the area, you're not right on the water front and the design and aesthetics suit the area and the buildings around it.

I like the brick compared to something more glass dominant.
The windows seem large and complimentary enough.

The renderings that they showed during the city council meeting last week were a bit different than those ones, and looked better.

Interesting. Amtrak services would terminate in Windsor and require a transfer to VIA - which is different than how existing Amtrak services into Canada operate.

I was hoping the extension of Wolverine services to Toronto would involve an additional Amtrak service into Union Station, but I guess it'll terminate at windsor and force a transfer onto VIA.

Not the worst thing considering the border problem. They are still scheduling a 1hr border clearance time in the schedule, which I admit is rather disappointing. Total travel time from Toronto to Chicago will be 9:55, which is longer than driving (~8.5hrs).

It's definitely more competitive time-wise than the Maple Leaf service though, which takes 13hrs to cover a distance which ~9hrs to drive.

Travel times may improve if VIA ends up making improvements in southern ontario as well, and Amtrak I believe still may improve Detroit-Chicago speeds as well.

Global Village update. St. Clair college takes bulk of units.
Looks like the townhomes were ditched. Fairmount Properties expects to complete its “due diligence” research for the Global Village by the end of this year.

I’ve been wondering what was going on with the Global Village, it’s been forever since there was an update. Hopefully it will start construction next year.

Hopefully they will get a better and bigger proposal for that site, now that the city’s economy is much stronger than three years ago.

Why am I not surprised this project is already being neutered down from it's original version.

Not a fan of the whole canopy idea. I think option 3 is the way to go. We have multiple venues to host concerts already. Besides, can't compete with the Casino just look how few shows the WFCU centre gets.

Option 3: $17.3 million to improve the plaza with green space, lighting and facilities that could support modular structures.

It's finally happening.. new expressway interchange at Banwell to begin construction this summer.

Quote:
With an anticipated increase in traffic when the NextStar battery plant opens next year, the city of Windsor is going ahead with plans to upgrade the intersection at Banwell Road and the E.C. Row Expressway.

An $80 million project is planned for the area which will include a $30 million overpass and work on the road from the interchange to the CP Rail tracks. The city is spending $5 million this year to build the on and off ramps to the overpass.
