Great neighbourhood for condos, the neighbours are deadly quiet, but we put in a 2 foot sidewalk and a chain link fence to keep you out, and keep them in. Great for walking dogs you don''t like. They had trouble selling these condos.
How about this grotesque row of townhouses a few hundred millimetres from an extremely busy 12-lane stretch of Hwy 400? The houses themselves are not ugly, but every time I drive past them, which is very infrequently, I am struck by their blinding incongruity. Who decided that was a suitable spot for townhomes?
I actually don't mind those townhouses, what a terrible location to live though.
^Yes, the townhouses themselves are fine as far as I'm concerned, but they stand out negatively because they couldn't possibly be in a worse location unless they were placed alongside runway 24L at Pearson.
My wife and I have remarked about those numerous times while driving up to the cottage. Terribly located but there’s always someone to overpay for those. Like the $3-4m houses in Hogg’s hollow that back onto the 401 near Yonge. There is a noise wall but your 2nd floor still overlooks the 401 and you’re still gonna hear the tens of thousands of cars passing by and still going to enjoy that polluted air.
I always wonder if there is a significant discount to poorly placed homes compared to comparable homes on the other side of the street
My cousin lives in Malton on a street parallel to the 427 but on far side. I wondered why so many people on the other side would hang out in their garages. Well the 427 was basically in their backyards.
Also having a backyard along a golf course like millcroft in Burlington seems cool until you realize most people can’t hit the ball straight. It’s a hazard and I wonder if people pay a premium for that view or if there’s a discount.
It's decorative brickwork (albeit odd), not bricked up windows.
Meant to look like a window that used to be there, a pretend fake window that never existed, to suggest a pleasing aesthetic asymmetry that was never there, a disingenuouity.
Some say it's ugly, but I don't mind it. I prefer it to some bland glass box. But not sure if the residents find these windows to be practical. The style probably won't age well though.
That Grimsby building is grim. Downright depressing actually. Reminds me of the movie Cube. The Etobicoke windowless prison townhomes are equally depressing.

I hate that condo with a flaming passion, it looks like the architect was drunk. It has a couple of siblings off to the side.
