I saw in on the news 2 or 3 months ago, steel was going up. It's bound to be several floors tall by now.

The next move by ELAD should be to buy the downtown Plaza and be "front row center" for the new Fremont bridge to the 61 acres. They could then build a new hotel there and name it something different. That would stop this silliness.

Speaking of pronouncing things properly, I always see people spelling CityCenter as City Center. MGM is sending out cease and desist letters to agent websites who do not spell or capitalize properly. I can understand why they would want it be marketed the proper way. MGM MIRAGE CityCenter. MGM MIRAGE as all capital and CityCenter one word with capital C's.

Many press outlets even get it wrong and post it as MGM Mirage CityCenter, failing to do MIRAGE in capital.

MGM Mirage can go to hell.. I hate people who think that they own the world. These companies are exactly what is wrong with America. These major corporations using their power and influence for their own greedy agenda. Trying to pick a fight with little guys to bully them around. Who cares if someone spells it CityCenter or City Center or Mirage or MIRAGE. It's all symantics and its ridiculous that they are sending out Cease and Desist letters to people who don't spell their name the way they want for their stupid public relations agenda. I hardly ever post anything on here anymore, but this one really made me angry.... Sorry for the rant.

This is actually incorrect. blue in french is "bleu". seems like people will always be pronouncing this name incorrectly. i dont think bleau means anything in french, however, the word "l'eau" means water.

I felt the same way you did at first considering I recieved one of these cease and desist letters. With that being said, the trademarked and branded name is not City Center or Citycenter or Project city Center....it is CityCenter or MGM MIRAGE CityCenter.

Whenever I market my website www.VegasGrowsUp.com I want the VGU capitalized...And its not worth 7.4 billion dollars by any means.

Many companies enforce the proper use of their trademarks, fonts, spellings etc.

Lobby and Hallways of Newport Lofts

I have been doing client walkthroughs at Newport Lofts in downtown and must say I am impressed with the quality. Everything feels right. The lobby features fine woods and a soothing modern waterfountain.

You can see two videos below

Also here is a picture of Juhl with Streamline in background which was taken from one of my clients units.

Town Board Agenda Sheets

It will be posted on the Planning Commission agenda sheet next week. If you want to see what is going to posted up to 1 week before it is actually posted, you can look at the town board agendas. The town board agendas only list new items, or items that have major modifications, so the list will not include everything that will be on the planning commission agenda. There are 3 town boards covering the strip, so you will have to look at 3 different agendas. Listed below are links to the 3 town boards. After you click on a link, select "Meeting schedules, agendas & minutes", then select the date you want to view.

Winchester Town Board: http://www.accessclarkcounty.com/adm...erTABindex.htm

Paradise Town Board: http://www.accessclarkcounty.com/adm...seTABindex.htm

The owners of the downtown Plaza must be thrilled with their situation. If they win the lawsuit, Elad will probably pay them tons of money for them to change their name and give Elad rights to the Plaza name in Las Vegas. If they lose the lawsuit, they can later on advertise rooms at the Plaza, and unsuspecting tourists will end up staying at their hotel (or paying for a room and just not showing up). And they won't have to worry about being sued by these tourists, because a judge has ruled that the two Plazas are not confusing. While Vegas regulars will know the difference, infrequent visitors will get duped---just like the tourists who want to eat at a Ray's Pizza in NYC and eat at a fake one.

I almost wonder if forcing a buyout is what Tamares has in mind, since they seem to be incompetent casino managers and really should get out of the business.

OK, say your a wealthy person and you wish to book a room at The Plaza, you will expect rates of $300 or more. So, when you're quoted a $59 rate (including a free hot dog and Coke) you will probably realize that you've got the wrong Plaza. I doubt Plaza Las Vegas will get any of The Plaza's unsuspecting guests.

I also don't think that Tamares' complaint will hold water since the names (Plaza Las Vegas and The Plaza) are not the same.

Thanks for the Aliante Station shot, Mr V

Trump Lights-Up

Trump now has his name in lights on the Las Vegas Strip. Surprisingly, it really isn't any brighter than the nearby Treasure Island lettering.

Jazfingr, your website has the Holiday Inn example http://vegastodayandtomorrow.com/whereisthis.htm where tourists get fooled. It happens---not to frequent visitors to Las Vegas, but to people who have never been to Vegas and heard from a friend that "the Plaza is really nice." And both Plaza Las Vegas and the Plaza are going to be referred to as the Plaza. In fact, on your website http://www.vegastodayandtomorrow.com/the-plaza.htm you use the term "Plaza Las Vegas" to refer to both buildings. I doubt one could open up a "Mandalay Bay Las Vegas" and not expect a phone call from some lawyers. And certainly if Elad's Plaza were open first and Tamares attempted to open their one after, Elad would sue and win. And yeah, the free hot dog and coke might give it away, but I know that when I travel to cities such as NYC, sometimes I'll pay $150/night and sometimes I'll pay $600/night for the same hotel room, on different days of the same week. So most people, and all Vegas regulars, will figure it out. But some will get fooled. If you type in Plaza in Google, Tamares is #2 and the Plaza NYC is #3. That might change when the new Plaza opens up, but that's a lot of internet traffic directed towards the cheap Plaza. I bet the downtown Plaza wins the lawsuit (or more likely they settle).

Good Points Hotdog. Only natural for downtown Plaza to make a stand.

If both names co-exist, downtown Plaza would do well to build a fancy web site and charge $400 per room. They would probably get quite a few reservations.

I am sure Elad expected this (otherwise they are dumb) and will pay off. Either pay off downtown Plaza or payoff lawyers/judges making the decisions.

"Plaza" is a really generic name for a hotel. There are "Plaza" hotels in almost every city in America. There's another one in Carson City, Nevada.
They even have a Plaza hotel in Las Vegas, New Mexico, built in 1882 and older than the one in New York.

Actually that's just your average extra large crawler crane with the extra jib for reaching really far. In that photo the jib is in the down position which they usually do when they're off duty. It's used for lifting things. There are some others at the big projects on the Strip.
