Things are just heating up in Wilmington

https://www.delawareonline.com/story...es/2861337002/

A few highlights:
"The rest is going toward BPG projects, including the building of a new 208-unit apartment complex at 517 N. Shipley St., which is currently a parking lot. "

"Next to the Residences, BPG is getting a rebate to build two buildings close to the corner of 8th and Shipley streets. One building will have two stories of retail and office space, and the other will have a restaurant, a bar, event space on the second floor and a yoga studio on the third. "

"An vacant building is being partially demolished next to that site to make room for a beer garden and space for food trucks."

"At 5th and Market streets, the developer will install a hotel with a restaurant and businesses in the lobby on the edge of the Delaware Historical Society's town square."

^Great!

One typo in the article, if indeed that hotel is going into where Kuumba Academy used to be, that is 6th and Market (not 5th and Market). And that is one hell of a building, one of my personal favs in Wilm., Frank Furness designed:

Yes, that's the one. I posted about this hotel proposal maybe a year ago when it was first publicly announced, but I guess everyone missed it. It's got a weird layout inside, so it'll be interesting to see what they do with the interior.

...

To everyone complaining about Wilmington posts, I don't get your gripe. What's the problem? If it wasn't for those posts, this thread would be pretty dead.

There is plenty else going on in the Philly metro. Construction and new projects in King of Prussia, Ardmore, Bala Cynwyd, Bryn Mawr, Wayne, Conshohocken, West Chester, Doylestown, Newtown, Media, Malvern, etc. etc. I'm sure plenty going on in NJ too in Camden, Collingswood, Haddonfield, Westmont, Glassboro, Atlantic City, etc. Someone post about that stuff!
Agree 100% and thanks for talking through the issue. The expressed concerns were largely that posts related to other towns, cities, burbs were getting buried by Wilmington posts. But there simply weren't many posts about those other places, and IMO that was the real "problem" to be solved, if there was one at all. Buried posts happen every single day on the High-rise and Low-rise threads. So I'm hoping to see more posts about these other places because there's a lot of good stuff happening in the Philly metro.

For folks that have started posting more, thank you & please keep it up.

The dead proposal with the lot now owned by Chase instead of Brandywine Trust?
I thought this was a dead project. I would love for it to happen though if there is still any chance it could.

That's the parcel, yea. I do expect it to happen at some point (not this year or anything), whether it looks like that or not.

This is odd and while stores have come and gone from there it is currently a pretty successful little strip mall, seems weird to want to displace successful and long-term tenants. I am all for improvements but...

The linked project is not for PM Mall. I made that mistake as well.

It is for the shopping center on Butler and Ridge where there is currently an REI and Weis supermarket.

Is that at the northeast corner of Campbell and Creamery Way? Should make the traffic there already more interesting than it already is considering they're building that large carriage home development directly across 30 in what used to be Waterloo Gardens. Not to metion, they need to do something about this:
