I reckon I'll do a top 5, as I have nothing better to do at the moment.

Well since i am born and raised in Vancouver i am most familiar with Vancouver's high rises (strange how that works) I dont really have an all time favorite, just a small bunch that i enjoy the most.

Here they are:

Hotel Vancouver

The Sangri-La

Bental 5

And One Wall Center to round out Vancouver

All of the above pictures are my own.

As for the rest of Canada there are a few towers that i also really enjoy

CanWest Global Place

Scotia Tower

And the classic First Bank Tower

The non vancouver photos all came from emporis (As one might have guested)

Post I accidentally put in the under 100m thread. Duh.

For older buildings I really like Sun Life in Montreal.

More contemporary, I really like Tour IBM. A couple of local (Calgary) favorites of mine are First Canadian Centre (take note, FCP - this is how you make white marble scrapers look good!) and Nexen...considering these two were built in the early 80s, they really are outstanding buildings for their time. Nexen looks like a brand new building.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nexen_Building,_Calgary

Of the many skyscrapers recently completed, or about to be completed, I love the new RBC tower. Particularly interesting since I distinctly remember the original Royal Bank building was the first skyscraper ever to catch my interest, back when I was in TO at the age of 12. I'd put Woodwards right up there too. The next couple of years are going to be really exciting as a few other brilliant-looking buildings are completed...Bow, Ritz-Carlton, Maple Leaf Square, and possibly Eighth Avenue Place have much potential.

But sorry guys, I absolutely despise First Canadian Place. In fact it's the only one of TO's bank towers that I DON'T like. I really hope something taller goes up right in front of it, just so I won't have to see it in the news and on SSP so damn often!

Not sure I have a favourite, but Tour de la Bourse in Montreal and Manulife Place in Edmonton are pretty high on my list.

Manulife on the left, photo by me.

1 St. Thomas looks good, but it isn't tall enough. The proportions are a bit off. If it was taller or thinner it would probably look better.

Vancouver: Shagri-La for sure. I'll give the nod to Harbour Centre just because I love "pods".

Calgary: I like Western Canada Place and the Bankers Hall Towers. PCC is the tallest, but not what I'd call memorable... Funny how all these buildings come in "pairs".

Edmonton: Manulife is my fave without a doubt. Shame they couldn't have done something spectacular with the rooftop, but the rise of that building is spectacular to look at from any angle. I also like Scotia Place.

Winnipeg: Ok, so Manitoba Hydro is 96.5m, but how can you not like the look of this building?? If it must be over 100m, Canwest Tower gets my nod.

Toronto: Scotia Plaza is unique. Most of the other buildings are tall, but could've been built anywhere IMO.

Ottawa: Minto Metropole... shame there's nothing taller...

Montreal: I really love Le 1250 Boulevard René-Lévesque. There are others but that one really stands out.

I know there are other buildings/cities I probably forgot, but for me these are the ones that stand out.

I don't really have a clear favourite. There are just too many good 'scrapers out there.

Toronto City Hall
Place Ville Marie
Commerce Court North
Commerce Court West
Tour de la Bourse
Royal Bank Plaza
Scotia Plaza
One Wall Centre
Nexen
