Smokes Poutinerie is apparently looking for a local Moncton franchisee.

This does not in any way imply that Smoke's is definitely coming to Moncton, just that Smoke's has determined Moncton is a viable market to be in......

It makes sense, considering there's been one in Fredericton for a number of years.

A job advert has just popped up on Indeed.com for a store manager for Ren's Pets

https://ca.indeed.com/jobs?q=Retail&...56480219572399

This effectively confirms the rumour that Ren's Pets is coming to Champlain Plaza.

Coincidentally, this updated photo on the expansion to Champlain Plaza just appeared on Retail Talk & Share.

Looks like Rogers is moving into the unit vacated by Burrito Jax in the Northwest Center.

Odd place to move into considering they've been there before albeit a few doors down as has some third party Rogers dealers. Lets hope this one sticks

I've been amazed they haven't gotten here yet, if they are truly coming that is great!

Press release from Collier's International:

Quote:
Starbucks confirmed for Granite Centre

Starbucks Coffee Canada has confirmed they will be opening their 7th location in the Greater Moncton Area as a tenant at Granite Centre located on Granite Drive in Moncton, New Brunswick.

After several weeks of planning, it has been officially confirmed that Starbucks Coffee Canada will be setting up shop at Granite Centre at 21 Granite Drive with a new 2,000 SF location. They will be situated in a plaza adjacent to the new Costco Wholesale & Gas Bar which opened in November 2018.

“The management of Granite Centre is excited to officially announce that Starbucks will be opening a location in Granite Centre in late 2019. Construction of the multi-tenant building is scheduled to begin in early June. We expect this to be the first of many announcements over the coming months and the start of what will become a dominant retail and service centre in the Moncton market.”, says Trevor MacLeod, Vice President of The Gray Group - the team behind the Granite Centre Development.

The first Starbucks opened in 1971 and are now present in over 75 countries. Their first Canadian store opened in Vancouver in 1987, and there are now 6 existing locations in the Greater Moncton Area. Starbucks is the premier roaster and retailer of specialty coffee in the world. Their coffeehouses have become a beacon for coffee lovers everywhere. But beyond the bean, they also offer a selection of premium teas, fine pastries and other delectable treats to please the taste buds.

“We are very pleased to work with the progressive developers at Granite Centre. The addition of Starbucks to the centre validates our vision of Granite Centre as a premium retail destination. We anticipate Starbucks being the next of many retailers.”, says Bill Hennessey, Managing Director of Colliers International New Brunswick.

About Granite Centre:

NEWS RELEASE

Starbucks locations have become a staple when it comes to chatting with friends, meeting with coworkers or even hitting the books for a study session. They are a neighbourhood gathering place, a part of people’s daily routines, and it is expected that the new location, which is expected to open
in the 4th Quarter of 2019 will fit seamless into that role for people in the surrounding community.
Granite Centre’s sole focus is to build a retail community with business partners who successfully engineer one-of-a-kind experiences for their customers. Strategically located with excellent visibility
from the Trans-Canada Highway, available leasing opportunities range from 1,500-45,000 SF.

Denny's & IHOP in Moncton is a bit like Bass Pro Shop & Cabela's - You may get one, but you certainly won't get (or keep) both...........
According to Halifax ReTales, there has been an about-face on the part of the developer and the Denny's in the Sandman Hotel at Dartmouth Crossing is back on. It will also include a "Denny's Bar"

IMO I think we'd be okay with both. Denny's isn't just breakfast they serve lunch and supper foods as well. IHOP is more or less the breakfast and pancake house.

So it's not like the US IHOPS where they have burgers and steaks? The last one I went to I had a turkey dinner with all the trimmings.

Here's the menu for the IHOP in Niagara Falls, Ontario.

They're definitely heavy on the breakfast items, but certainly have full lunch and dinner menus as well.........

That's it. ^^^^ When I looked at the online menu I seen row after row of breakfast items, but that's not the only things. Denny's seems to have more variety.

Aha. I was correct in my earlier thinking that I found it weird that sandman wouldn’t have a Denny in it. ;-).

Some more rumblings around this. I was at the location in Millbrook earlier this week it was my first time trying their food. One of the staff members had said that the owner was looking to get set up in the new Granite Center on Elmwood. 2nd hand information so take it fwiw but would be a good spot as nothing of the sort close to that area

Indeed could be a good spot. Certainly new to market, and this is what the developers said they wanted for the Granite Centre........

Also, I drove by the Granite Centre the other evening, and based on where they've installed the construction trailer, I wonder if they aren't also going to start work on "Building 1" in addition to the other two buildings (2 & 3) that were recently approved at PAC.

Buildings 2 & 3, including Starbuck's and McDonald's

Conceptual - Building 1

Status of Moncton IHOP?

Has anyone heard any news about the status of the Moncton IHOP?

Last I read in this thread is that they were planning to be open "Winter 2019" but the lot they are supposed to be using next to Casino NB hasn't even been cleared of trees yet.

Doesn't appear to be any activity at the site which leads me to wonder if the project has been postponed or cancelled.

I've wondered about the absence of site preparation too, but there was a new job advert on Indeed.com just last week for an assistant manager for IHOP in Moncton, so I imagine things are still on track.

It could be though that the opening date may have been put back a bit. We'll see.

If they expect to be open before Christmas, land prep will have to begin in the next few weeks.........

The person responsible for opening the restaurant will be leaving in a couple weeks or so to train in Edmonton. When he returns he will be responsible to staff and start up this restaurant after which he will go to the new restaurant at the Hyatt

Interesting. Are you privy as to what the new restaurant at the Hyatt will be?
