Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Québec, Montreal. It looks better on the inside though.

Maison symphonique de Montréal - apparently, the entire hall is insulated by rubber to reduce/eliminate the vibration from the streets. Cosmic eh?

Palais de justice

I absolutely have don't know how to feel about this building. Very imposing! I certainly am not sure if I could appreciate the blank concrete walls on the side. The good news, there are going to install solar panels on the side of the building.

Palais de justice de Salaberry-de-Valleyfield. I love the way the architects integrated the buildings here, they are the same architect of Centre Sportif Gatineau.

They just opened up - so not a lot of photos online, but as you can see - the project was a court house + a jail. Phase 1 was the back side, and once that was fixed - they did phase 2 which was the glass extension.

Two other building I truly appreciate, and perhaps less known to non-Montreal.

1) Canadian Centre for Architecture

The back side which builds around the Shaughnessy House, the SH is well preserved, and there is even a study area in the older section.

The front entrance

and 2) Segal Centre for Performing Arts, which was build by Phyllis Lambert in the 'Miesian' style.

Are you sure that's good news?

It is a very impressive building. I'm no expert but I believe it would fall into the International Style of architecture, not unlike the UN Building perhaps.

Anyway, thanks for posting all those Montreal buildings.

Toronto's got some pretty cool shit going on. The Whitney block is a gem.

Some of Montreal's municipal buildings in the "administration district"

Former police HQ, 1960

http://www.vieux.montreal.qc.ca/inve...4811-02-02.jpg

Old city hall annex, 1913. Built as part of a grand municipal district project that also included a bigger brand new city hall. It never saw the day, except for this one. The interior of this building was completely modernized (destroyed) in 1963. Today this the Municipal court.

http://www.vieux.montreal.qc.ca/inve...p?sec=a&num=26

Built in 1991 next door to city hall, this office/residential complex is rented out by the municipal government.

The old palais de justice, built by 1857-1893. Now used for government offices.

Market Building Ottawa (left), 1927:

Aberdeen Pavilion in Lansdowne Park, 1898. Ottawa won the Stanley Cup in the building in 1904. It is/will be used as an exhibition hall and Ottawa Farmer's Market building between November and April.

Some beautiful buildings have been posted, many large and ornate or imposing, others more modern and intriguing. Almost all aesthetically pleasing on some level. Some have wow'ed me (That's a water treatment plant? I'm impressed)

Figured I would hit y'all with a smidge of underwhelming, I also included a brief history caption in brackets above each photo:
