Good evening everyone!

It's been a while since I've been around. I was in Toronto for a several months and just getting back into the swing of things here.

The footprint of this building is MASSIVE! Without checking the plans I would figure this tower in the foreground is easily 2.5 times the floorplate of the slender tower across the street at Westgate.

And they will be building two more... and the shorter buildings as well. I really hope these don't end up looking chunky. The renders look good to me.

That Synergy company really boogeys on the formwork. They must have their fingers in half of the concrete superstructures going up around town right now. I'm not complaining.

*edit.. I have un derped my brain. Enjoy! I will post a few others as I enjoy my desk. I hope everyone is doing well!

The tower will be a bit more slender from the 7th floor up as that is the beginning of the setback on the West side:

It looks to lose about 1/3 its width after the 7th floor, but I think its depth stays the same.

You're not wrong about 1/2 the buildings, there are only two big players in this work in Ottawa - Bellai Alliance and Synergy.

Revisiting the past renders in this thread, I'm not overly excited about this one... Looks dated and ugly already, especially the first building in phase 1 (phase 2/3 look a bit more modern with a bit more glass).

This one going up looks like the old blocks on Lees...

I agree the design is stumpy but I just hope they have some decent materials on the exterior. It's going to be quite the canyon down Carling when all is said and done and nice glazing will go a long way.

Ah. Thanks for pointing that out. I think I was more fixated on the two buildings in the foreground that have a larger floor plate going up when looking at the renders. This will still be a chonker regardless.

Certainly not great, but they will be a few among many taller, slimmer towers. Good mix, I guess.

The first tower under construction right now, judging by the render, seems like an 80s design holdover, compared to towers 2 and 3. Why does this not match the design language of the other builds and appears like a cheap unassociated bland apartment block?

Depending on the materials they use, it might look better than the renders once built. Especially with the red elements.

The first tower though doesn't seem to have any red elements.

It literally looks like this beauty

Which would be tower C on the site plan. Yeah, I don't really care much about that one. Looks like generic RLA

Yep. But Tower C and the 8 floor Tower E behind it are the ones being built right now as part of phase 1.

Who knows when phase 2 will even happen.

Building under construction is going to be real life grey scale? Why couldn't they just make it like PH 2 and 3? I like the way they look.

The render from Carling makes it look like its just a massing that doesn't exist on a separate property.

Today's Progress, along with Carling cosplaying as the Queensway for the day!

Seems impressive that it's only passed the halfway mark and still has about 9 floors to go.

Both exciting and scary given the limited low-res renders we've seen that look less than impressive

Fingers crossed the facade matches the two renders of the western buildings. I see some angles and articulation action going on there. That could be a promising sign this won't be a massive 3d greyscale render.

I was seriously hoping for the same. But unfortunately looking at the floorplates so far, it seems to match the render quite closely.

No pleasant surprises like with Claridge Royale.

The vague render looks like a short fat 1960 Scott.

Amazing how quickly this one is going up too. Some builds in Ottawa seem to be developing at a snail's pace.
