i would disagree with that
city centre is a much more build up density area and the rest of surrey grouped into it would mess it up
its nice to have central separated
its just people should be knowing what goes where better

Not enough users. Not enough interest. Not enough minor developments. I'm not going to sticky it until it has met at least two of three requirements.

That's Central City II, so it's 35 storeys IIRC.

Any news/updates about that project?

This is interesting and maybe someone can confirm if these are just placeholder renderings or if they're actual designs? I know that the RFEOI put out by SCDC just wrapped up and a shortlist of teams was selected - the RFP hasn't even been released by SCDC. The shortlist is a pretty impressive group of the usual suspects but in the industry most agree that this is a gift to BTA for their work on the development plan.

I think that the overall 800k square feet for SFU is more impressive. The current campus is 104k square feet, and the bby campus is 2.8 million sq ft - i don't even know if that is just instructional space.

Great finds, Whalleyboy.
- Lately I've been wondering if a landmark observation tower might be a great fit for dt Surrey... amazing views on each end of the compass, from the mountains, to the fraser valley, to vancouver, etc. Imagine it at the foot of King George (five corners), guiding you all the way down into Whalley.

They're not that expensive right? It's time the west coast one-ups the CN tower , maybe taking some inspiration from the proposals coming out for that observation tower/park project in dubai but pacific northwest-erizing it.

Or... a ferris wheel. <ducks>

Seriously though, those images are really amazing. I'm particularly impressed with the Square that Surrey is building. Is Central City II only 35 stories tall? That render makes it look double the size of CC1, which is 25 stories tall.

That building is the best thing that has ever happened to Surrey. Who was responsible for bringing it to Surrey?

CC1 = ICBC & Provincial Government (Tech BC). ICBC was originally going to move their offices from North Vancouver (Lonsdale) to there, however they backed out and left a huge amount of empty space. Tech BC was a bit of a failure, who was picked up by SFU. ICBC sold the building.

CC2 = City of Surrey & SFU. I am sure they will also want a major tenant for that office tower before they start.

We should have the next tallest skyscraper in Surrey...now everyone around the world would know this city in the Metro Vancouver region!
Great way to gain attention!
