I have only one question about all of this, though: Is Starbucks is not coming back just quite yet? Or have they moved to the other side?
Starbucks already has "coming soon" signs up on the east side entrance.

The west side units are all "for lease" as far as I could see.

Starbucks was originally wanting to go in the east side, so a lot of services were put in for them there like heating/cooling and grease interceptors. Then they wanted to go back to their old location on the west side. I guess the high costs of putting services in the west side after the fact dissuaded them.

I think the west side was better for them. I would go in and grab a coffee or tea if it was cold and there was a bit of a wait for a bus. You do get the morning commuters on the east side, but I don't think people tend to grab a coffee midway through their commute. But hey, it's Starbucks.

Future St. Paul's will be on the east side, if they don't get their own Starbucks they will jam that one.

Technically, Starbucks has the might and the power to have two locations side by side, even though it'd probably not make much economic sense that way... haha. But glad to know they're sticking around.

Them and Tim Horton's. It still amazes me that there's a Tim Horton's just inside the Dunsmuir Street entrance to Granville station and another one right across the street on the Dunsmuir side of the downtown BCIT campus.

If there's no Starbucks inside the Pacific Central station - they'd get those passengers too.

That was the closing time and employee entrance/exit.
i.e. it could be kept open for store access without a flood of customers.

They're also a few blocks away on Quebec and 2nd now, and further east down Terminal with a rare drive-in. Plus they will likely have a store in the new hospital. Plenty for all!

There is a large mobile crane set up in the Grandview Cut just outside Commercial-Broadway. Some trees have been cleared on the south slope of the cut. There also seems to be some ground preparation underneath the walkway. Looking forward for construction to start on the new platform.

Here's a look around the east side of the Main Street-Science World Station where the new Starbucks will go.

Another horrible retail space.

I know Starbucks just needs to put a little sign up to drum up business, but it would be nice if they did something with that bare concrete. Even a frickin wooden door would warm things up a bit.

I'm sure the cabinets and furniture inside will have enough warmth to liven up the colour scheme (as they always do).
Anything beyond that will probably get too complicated in terms of negotiations...

In any case, I'd love to see more shops like these around the stations where possible...

Or they already know something we don't: the tunnel will never complete and all we'll have is a stub extension to the M-Line a few blocks up North Rd to Burquitlam.

I work for an architecture firm and we are already doing preliminary designs for converting the existing tunnel into condos.

Probably just got their wires crossed between when the original station specs were drawn up and the final line configuration/naming was decided.
