It’s anchored firmly into bedrock, with the deepest caissons ever drilled in San Francisco. The engineering on that and other aspects of the project were covered well in this thread.

Can't they figure out how to implement the window washing equipment more into the design of these buildings? On this one it makes the building look goofy. It's almost as if they should include window washing arms into the renderings, as they are pretty much permanent architectural features. Seems to only be an issue with these all glass towers, you don't see permanent window washing cranes hanging off of the pyramid or many of the other older skyscrapers.

^^I don't believe that's window washing equipment still on top. I believe that's still the construction cranes that put the final skin panels in place.

To answer your question, yes--the window washing booms are often collapsable or can be disassembled when not in use so they aren't visible. I don't think the equipment on this building will be offensive to the eye when the building is finished.

Two articles about recent Salesforce Tower leasing activity:

https://techcrunch.com/2017/11/02/we...esforce-tower/

https://www.bizjournals.com/sanfranc...oston-bxp.html

Highlights:
  • New York-based WeWork will open a second headquarters in San Francisco, leasing three stories in Salesforce Tower.
  • Salesforce Tower is now 88% leased and could be 98% leased prior to opening, with Boston Properties currently in talks to lease another 152,000 square feet.
  • Companies eyeing the remaining space are not necessarily in the tech sector; private equity firm Hellman & Friedman is currently in discussions to rent two upper floors.
And this freaking awesome picture from the techcrunch article:

This is just absolutely perfect for SF, bravo! I watched the bottom half go up before I moved back East, great to see it's turned out even better than the renderings

I have seen them testing at least some of the crown already from the South. I wouldn't be surprised if it was unveiled at Dreamforce.

The subtlety of Salesforce Tower with 181 Fremont's diagonally opposite glass is gorgeous.

Personality up the wazoo!

If I remember correctly, the windows don’t open or tilt out at all?

First Light! Sunday 11/5/2017

I like what I see tonight. A nice blue light. Looking at Pedestrian's post #3121 05/04/2017, it appears to me that these 3 lit levels tonight will not be animated.

View from Charmaine's atop the Proper Hotel at 120 feet

Some amazing views from the lounge. I don not recommend this place just yet as the service is very bad. Hopefully the new staff learns how to serve in a month or two. It took 1 hours to get 1 slider & 1 cocktail. Then after 17 minutes no waiter so i had to go to the bar for the bill.
