Huge patio terrace that will be awesome in the summer and yes....unimpeded views of river from the walls of glass.

I think it looks pretty chic....but does have just a bit of a 'cafeteria' feel to it....would have liked to have seen a bit higher standard of table and chairs. But still frickin' great to finally have restaurant with river view in a 'river city'!

I feel the same about the cafeteria look. But if they were to put out linens and dim down the lights for dinner service I think that would mostly solve it. Cafeteria chic works fine for me for breakfast and lunch.

Remai reviews are in: See what people think of Saskatoon's 'ambitious' new art museum

New $84.6M facility 'will illuminate our city and our community,' says donor Ellen Remai

By Guy Quenneville, CBC News
Oct 21, 2017

"It's just breathtakingly beautiful," said Bill Bolstad as he walked around Saskatoon's freshly opened Remai Modern art museum Saturday morning.

The lifelong art collector and admirer was among the first dozen members of the public to step foot inside the museum. Doors opened — following a lengthy opening ceremony — shortly after 10 a.m.

Bolstad drove from Regina just for the occasion, waiting patiently alongside the crowd of about 70 attendees in the chilly, rain-soaked air under the building's front canopy.

I am guessing those chairs are leather and not cheap. I have someone checking it out.

From what I saw, chairs were plastic...but I did not actually sit in one. But I really don't want to get hung up on the quality of a restaurant chair or table, when this magnificent gallery has added so much to the city and province and country with respect to a world class gallery of modern art!

I am curious about what Cree people think of these syllabics. Historically they did not have a written language until a British missionary developed this script in the 19th Century. I think it is unique and cool but do they?

Now that it's finished, I'm loving all the professional photography of the building that's emerging, especially this evening shot:

Remai Modern gets noticed in New York Times

Saskatoon StarPhoenix
January 4, 2017

The Remai Modern Art Gallery is mentioned this week in a New York Times article.

The story, about various new galleries opening around the world, includes the Louvre Abu Dhabi and the Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa, the “first major contemporary art museum on the continent.”

Saskatoon is cited as one “surprising locale” for a “splashy new museum.”

“There is the art of travel, and then there is traveling for art. In 2017, art lovers can expect splashy new museums in both well-known and surprising locales, noteworthy exhibits timed to milestone birthdays and an under-the-radar art fair that is not to be missed,” writes Shivani Vora.

“Late in the year, the Remai Modern will make its debut in Saskatoon, the largest city in the Canadian province Saskatchewan.

That's a beautiful photo. Glass buildings always look best at twilight, IMO. Thanks for posting this!
