It's funny that we either get a food desert or two giant grocery stores across the street from each other and two starbucks.

One thing I am concerned about based on that proposal to the Art Commission is if theyre planning to cut down the big trees along broad street in front of this site. Marine Club already cut down two of the four in front of them, and hacked away at the other two, and obviously the ones in front of Lincoln Square are all gone. Killing more tree cover would be sad

Where did you see that they're cutting down trees? It would be weird to cut them down now since they made a huge effort to protect/preserve them during construction. Here's the renderings from the art commission. I guess I could see that in one rendering they look smaller but there's no way they're chopping them down after building around them for months. It's likely just the rendering. As of Sunday, the mature trees were all still there.

Yeah looking again you're completely right. The ones out front just looked smaller in the first rendering. Suppose they were just trying to show off the building haha, thanks for checking me.

Reminds me of that scene in the first Shrek when the huge Gingerbread man comes stomping down the street, and everyone runs out of the Starbucks and directly into the other Starbucks across the street.

The mature trees along Broad were taken down on Friday! What a shame ... they worked around them for so long now.

Not to say I was right but... this is not a circumstance where I'm happy about it

WHAT? I was just at that intersection looking at the trees, and was happy to see they were still there waiting for their spring leaves.

Maybe they will plant new ones in place of them that are better.

I thought council passed a bill requiring trees to remain in place when construction takes place, maybe they require trees that are cut to be replaced now.

It sucks, I wonder what the reasoning was.
