There is too much light pollution to put it next to the Adler.
It is kind of obsolete at this point at both locations. The best solution is to make it a museum and protect the grounds enough.
But that is a lot of Lake Geneva shoreline that will demand 10's of millions of dollars to develop on that shoreline. A compromise is keep the observatory intact and let 10 million dollar new homes share the waterfront. The old observatory is doing nothing for them now and it would be too expensive to move.
The University of Chicago could come out in the black if they do it right.
All of the monies can be put in their own endowment funds
