I'm not sure where BVictor is getting is inside info, but as of now, it is definitely NOT taller...

so, don't get too excited... FYI, at this location, there is a significant foundation premium going above 50-55 stories...

Interesting.....so there's something in particular about this LSE parcel that yields a greater cost premium over ~55 fls than other 'similar' parcels in LSE and environs? If that's the case, I'm curious what that is.......(is it specifc to the shape/size of parcel and the specific program that is planned, or is it something else, something deeper.......something............geotechnical)???

Speaking of odd LSE parcels, has there ever been further info on the former Mandarin Oriental spot?

We have two long term members here, appearing to be in the know, with conflicting information. I guess we'll just have to wait to see who's right.

Lets stop talking about the link? it says nothing about the project anyways. it just says that it met with the Illinois government

Quote:
Wanda Group chairman Wang Jianlin held close talks with Naomi D. Jakobsson, Democratic Member of the Illinois House of Representatives and other members of the Government of Illinois at Wanda's head office in Beijing on July 25th. Liu Zhaohui, Wanda Group's General Manager of Overseas Real Estate, also attended the meeting.
That is everything. lets post when there is actual news or comments concerning the design or actual project. the only clue is that The General Manager of Overseas Real Estate attended the meeting, which could mean they are talking about the project.

A meeting with a state rep from Urbana is completely meaningless to anything regarding financing or planning approval. She was probably in China for other reasons (10% of U of I freshmen now come from China) and accepted a courtesy meeting with folks who are utterly clueless about how the different levels of government work in the US. I spend a lot of time trying to explain the concept of home-rule municipalities to baffled officials from China.

I was just in LSE last week and noting how beautiful this little neighborhood has become. We have all focused on the impact the Wanda Hotel project will have viewed from north of Wacker, but viewed from the LSE (inside the park, for example), it's going to be simply awe-inspiring. But put down that shadow study software, Mr. D, because luckily most of the neighborhood is to the south of this tower.

Right now it looks like someone just busted out a section of the fence between the lowest level of Wacker and the river walk. And the access to the lakefront at the east end is just as hilariously bad; it requires walking through a private parking garage, a vacant field, and a public parking lot under LSD.

I live in the Tides at Lakeshore East, and I love it. During the day, its honestly one of the best parks in the city, IMO. Its always perfectly vibrant, and just a great place to relax. It feels like an Atlanta subdivision with high-rises. Yes its not ultra vibrant at night, but theres definitely still people in the park enjoying the views. If you haven't been there I highly recommend stopping by one day.
