I doubt the Altus building will be developed any time soon though, the buildings FAR is actually deceptively high. There are far too many developable lots to knock out before that one goes.

We knew it was going to be large when the height of 205 m was made public a few years ago. This will be as tall as Four Seasons.

Not a big fan of the white spandrel glass, but aside from that, I'm digging the cladding thus far. My only other disappointment with this tower is how it's sited, with the curve facing away from the lake. I really with the curve faced west, so that it would be more prominent from the lake skyline view. It'll be visible from some points further west (looking northeast), but not from directly south.

I can see what you mean, but with the curve on he north side it will be very prominent when arriving downtown from the DVP and GO on the East and the Gardiner rom the west. A view which is almost certainly going to be seen by more people than the islands's view.

I've been trying to picture how the curve will work with the lean of Ritz-Carlton when viewed from the west. I appreciate they're opposite sides of Front St and a fair few blocks between them, but think these two could work together when viewed from the appropriate angle.

There is truth in both points.

Got some big towers on the way to improve the island view

- Ice Condo
- 10 York
- 90 Harbour
- Delta Hotel

3 of those towers should start making an impact before the year is out.

^ Honestly, I think two of those (90 Harbour and 10 York) will only harm the lake/island view by blocking the view of high quality, landmark office buildings and making downtown look less interesting and layered and more wall of monolithic condos. Those buildings would really improve the view if they were set apart from the office core, placing them around Cityplace or CN Tower.

L on the other hand should actually improve the island view, though only slightly since its size and position won't make it stand out that much. But it's gonna look splendid driving along the Gardiner or coming down Yonge.

depends on the angle you look at the core from.

straight on, they would block out the core:




but if you moved down the island a bit further, they would add to the skyline rather than block it out;
