Definitely. That's going to be a big contribution.

A 77 story tower is announced and gets all of one post. I thought you guys would be going ape-shit over this news. I know its really early for even renderings, but come on. This is huge.

^ I think we've been taught that we are unworthy, so we don't make a big deal and just hope that we keep improving. It's also a big dream coming out of the great recession (depression for some) and where too many remain. My feeling is "Good luck. I hope they can. And hope it starts a chain reaction so I can move into a real apartment."

There are a couple reasons why. 1) Almost all the Seattle forumers are at Skyscrapercity, where the Seattle subforum is extremely active. and 2) Nobody believes a word this developer says, because they have never built anything of significance in their existence, despite several ambitious "proposals" like this one. If news comes that they got a partner or they sold the plans and property to a real developer, then you'll see some of the Seattle forumers get excited.

15-Story Hotel Coming Soon To South Lake Union

Stanford Hotels Corp. is taking its plans for a 15-story hotel at 300 Terry Ave. in front of the design review board tonight in hopes to kickstart development by late 2014. The hotel will include approx. 283 rooms, a conference center, restaurant and roof garden. The total square-footage will top out around 139K. There won't be any parking on site, but there are nearby garages as well as a streetcar stop. It's TBD who the official hotel brand will be, though with a location close to Amazon, it should make for an attractive property.

Amazon's Giant Downtown Spheres Are Officially Approved

Everyone's all "Amazon drones this" and "Amazon drones that," but everyone seems to have forgotten that before they were planning on delivering t-shirts via aircraft, they were planning on erecting giant spheres in the middle of downtown Seattle. Those plans were officially approved by the Seattle Department of Planning and Development on Thursday, ensuring that Amazon's three-block, 3.3M square-foot campus will happen sooner than later. The first phase, which includes, office high-rise and a meeting center, is scheduled to open in 2015. The second phase, which includes the spheres, is set for completion in 2016

Its like mSeattle said......we don't take ourselves too seriously.....and like JC II pointed out.......... Urban Visions is a small time developer. I posted the article because I liked the headline ......and we can always dream, can't we?

Vashon, you are thorough! While none of these are supertalls, they will add greatly to the look and feel of downtown. What's even more exciting is the scores of lowrise and midrise buildings u/c totally changing the feel on the street and beefing things up below and around the skyline. We're very lucky.

Yes, including the tide of buildings not tall enough to make this list, which account for maybe 1/2 of the square footage underway in greater Downtown.

This bldg is cool. Its considerably taller than its neighbors so the architect designed its windows so they mimic its neighbors' windows, helping it to blend in.

Vashon, great photos........and yes, you are thorough.

Thanks. I try to do my very best.

The exterior elevator and tower crane at Stadium Place came down last week (the elevator was removed before the crane... it's generally the other way around).

By JON SILVER
Journal Staff Reporter
http://www.djc.com/news/re/12060605.html

MacFarlane Partners, a San Francisco developer and real estate investment manager, is looking at another South Lake Union site for an apartment tower.

A preliminary proposal filed with the city calls for a 240-foot building at 901 Harrison St.

So Vashon and others, what do you all think of this bldg? I wasn't into it when it was first proposed and still not loving it. It looks to me like an overgrown telecom bldg.

Our buildings generally have larger floorplates than Vancouver projects, and are often shorter, due to our common 240' zoning. Also our building envelope regs (I don't know the details) require glass to be more insulating than previously. Put all of that together and Vancouver's glassy, skinny-looking towers aren't happening here...except now we're doing a number of 440' towers so the height part changes the equation.
