I don't think it's so bad. I mean the concept. The design and website need work, yes. I am obviously in the extreme minority and might just even be the minority with the response on this so far.

There are a lot of way you can incorporate various aspects of a guitar into a building without actually designing a building shaped exactly like a guitar. I seriously doubt this will go very far, but if it does I hope the design is changed so much that we can't tell its coming from the same developer or architect.

It would look better if it were shaped like a Fender Strat.

Sarah Cannon Research Institute hunts for new space

100-200k of space for administrative purposes, in other words, developers are hoping to land this and start a new office tower. Also with Region's probably still looking that means we could be seeing more office towers on the horizon.

HCA consolidation could mean massive office space building

"HCA, the nation's largest hospital company, is looking to consolidate a large portion of its administrative operations into Nashville..."

200-400k of new office space will be needed. This could either bring to fruition a downtown office project or could go to ONECity, directly behind HCA's corporate HQ off 31st Avenue North. I suspect the latter being most likely, personally.

With the amount of space they need, we can at least hope that one (or both) of these can help anchor a new tower in downtown. I would agree that is is most likely that HCA will move in by their current headquarters though.

So apparently executives from Ritz Carlton were in Nashville Friday. Hmm, this is interesting but not completely surprising. They're one of several hotels that have wanted to get into the Nashville market, with W being the most mentioned for years.

This is definitely good news. If a project comes to fruition, what kind of height do you think that this could reach?

Not a clue. I'd be willing to bet they are or will be in talks with Tony G. because of his site's proximity to everything. Across the street from the CMHOF and Schermerhorn Symphony Center, a block to the MCC, 2 blocks to Lower Broadway & The District entertainment districts, just 1/2 mile across the river from LP field, 1 block to Bridgestone Arena and just 4-6 blocks to the heart of the financial center of downtown.

The other site I could see in play is the old Westin site between 3rd & 4th Avenues behind Lower Broadway.

Hopefully we hear something before the end of the year concerning another full-service hotel of about 400 rooms that was talked about a few months back. I mean there's the Omni and that's really it in terms of large room #s in a single building near the MCC that offers it all.

These are some photos I got from a story in the Nashville Post discussing the future of Nashville's East Bank. They are among 17 finalists in a contest hosted by the Nashville Civic Design Center. The rest of the entries will be made public later this week.

I also thought that it would be interesting to hear what you would like to go in at the East Bank.

Thanks for posting these. The city needs to focus on an attraction that will get people on the East Bank everyday rather than just Sundays. A museum or what not will work fine (2nd photo). After that, add infill consisting of residential/ retail/ music halls. It needs to be done right, as in multi use high density (3rd photo).

Chatter on UP about Regions planning a new tower. Nothing major though. Maybe something along the lines of SunTrust.

It would be nice if Tony G. could get someone like Regions to lease space in 505CST. Although I want something with height, a building the size of SunTrust will provide nice infill, and hopefully quality architecture.

Agreed, I'd really love to see Tony secure that space. Now, about Regions, I feel optimistic about it. On UP, it was called a "big plan for a new tower downtown, with Regions as the anchor", which makes me think of it as something bigger than the Sun Trust. Again, I'm just being optimistic, and big can be a relative term, but I still have a good feeling about this project.

I think there's reason to be optimistic, especially since this is a bank wanting to build a new tower, and not simply a developer who needs major leases. Half of me says that Regions will want a new tower that will somewhat take the glamour away from Pinnacle, but that would be much more expensive that a SunTrust type building. We'll see, but surely there will be a new tower, especially with their current tower up for auction.

This is sexy!
Adelicia's developer Ray Hensler's proposed residential tower for The Gulch.

23 stories. $80 million. 312 units, from the article or at least what I understood they're all rentals. Projected end of the year start!

^ Looks better than I expected. This, along with Omni and (hopefully) SoBro will serve to freshen and beef up the skyline.
