TV, is Hydro going to put the power lines underground? It's so funny how there's still little pockets with above-ground lines all around downtown, mostly in Exchange.

Usually Manitoba Hydro won't pay to place existing services underground on their own due to the expense.

I know that I have seen a clause in city development/rezoning agreements that existing o/h lines are to be placed underground at the developers expense. And if there are Telco and Cable on the pole the developer has to pay for those to be moved as well.

Surprising how those power lines are remaining. How long till they get knocked over by some of the equipment working there?

I can see on one pole that the feed has been grounded and taken out of service.

Ok. Still seems odd they remain in place. Would have thought they'd be cleared out shortly after taken out of service.

Re: Hydro lines in Exchange. They're currently re-doing James Ave, but will not be changing up the Hydro poles and lines on the south side because "there were a number of utilities issues and cost implications that were outside the budget for the works".

So the north side gets the shorter black street lamps and trees and the south side remains as is.

anyone wandering by the RIC, they are currently framing out the foundation of the exit stair at the corner of the building. You can get a feel for where the building sits in relation to the sidewalk at the intersection.

I always love the part where you begin to see how it sits on the site. Always different than in my imagination.

Fantastic. The framing of the Nutty Club logo is going to be amazing. I vote to have that mural designated historic, regardless what happens with the building haha. Light it up so you can see it from Main!

I'm really excited for this.

Unfortunately there isn't enough retail demand, but an iconic and important building such as this gets traffic and attracts investment attention to downtown... this begets downtown residential ineterst, and eventually, retail.

And finally, another interesting building!

It's so awesome when a project was kept under wraps for a while, and when it's officially announced it gets going immediately. We waited like a week from announcement to construction – awesome. Great to see progress seemingly moving fairly quick.

Hah, working at Richardson it was the complete opposite. It was a long while.
