So much to look forward to. For so many years we just looked at the plateau and wondered what if they built something taller than the pyramid.... nah never gonna happen. What a great time to be around to see all the changes happening. And in a good way.

I recently got back to the city from my rain-free hidey-hole in the desert and as I follow my well-worm paths I am constantly surprised to be able to see this building sticking up where I didn't expect to see it. That means, of course, that the lighting, whatever it turns out to look like, will also be visible. So I hope it is really good. No other "public art" is going to be seen by so many people.

How great would it be if Campbell said "Oh hey, guys, turns out my LED installation is going to require you build the structure just 31 feet higher in order to fit, you know, bringing the overall height to 1101'...

Also like the nighttime perspectives of Oceanwide Center in the pics.

That the lighting art is going to be awesome is an understatement! (Love them all, but especially appreciate the "lighthouse" effect when the top is obscured by fog - so appropriate for San Francisco.)

I'm wondering if Oceanwide Center will have a night time light show next door...

Mark Benioff told a little fib on Jim Cramer's "Mad Money" TV show today: He said it was originally proposed to HIM to build Salesforce tower 20 floors higher and he rejected the idea as being too grandiose even for him and Salesforce.

Of course WE know the tower was built by Boston Properties and Hines and he didn't lease part of it (and slap his company name on it) until after such matters were decided and the height was cut from approx. 1200 ft on the basis of shaddow and other considerations by the SF Planning Commission and TransBay Board, not him.

But Cramer sucked it up.

Could be that they came back to him after he signed the lease to see if he could influence the Mayor who would then influence the PC/BoS to scale it back up. Hard to tell what really happened.

I saw this building in the background of a TV commercial last night. I don't remember what it was for (some medicine, probably), but there was a shot of the San Francisco skyline with Salesforce prominently visible.

^^A lot of car commercials show them crossing the Bay Bridge and this would be clearly seen in any shot aimed toward the city.

Blurry picture but we can see that the first mesh cladding has been added this morning.

It's the middle strip that will be different from the rest on the sides. Good catch!

I don't think so--I think it's a segment of what the major part of the mesh will be. You are just looking at the building from an angle so it appears to be centered. They have now put up another section--clearly off-center. I think what will be right above the 2-section wide missing glass is the center of that side and will be where the "groove" will be.:

That was always my view going into The City, probably been a year or more since I did it, but I love that view cant wait to see it updated.
