I think a lot of you misunderstood what William was talking about.

The Xinyi Convention center is made of two halls. One is the Taipei World Trade Center - Hall 1 and the other one is Hall 3.

Hall 1 is still in use and will be around for the next 10 to 20 years or so. That building is apart of the Taipei World Trade Center complex that includes the Taipei International Convention Center and Taipei World Trade Center - International Building.

Hall 3 was built in 2003 as a temporary structure because of the need for increased floor space until the Nangang expo center was completed. Now that the Nangang expo center is open, the need for Hall 3 is no more. So maybe we will see a new building built there soon.

So please don't worry about the Convention center being torn down. I think I would be one of the first to know if this would happen because I have a office in the Taipei World Trade Center Hall 1. Sorry, I am not going to tell what floor it is on. lol

This makes much more sense.

My understanding is they made three buildings for Taipei World Trade Cetnre.
Hall 2 is the one I was talking about in last post. It locates at the opposite side of Hall 3.

Base on this news and anyiliang post, both hall 2 and hall 3 are temporary structures. Hall 2 was built about more than ten years ago. The propose of hall 2 and hall 3 are similar, provide enough capacity for increase of floor space need.
