I think direct comparisons are silly. My first thought at seeing this thread was that it was a fishing expedition.

KWC is at a different point in its "renaissance" than Hamilton is. Simple as that. There is no competition, no dust to be kicked up nor to leave in a wake...

Projects under construction and projects proposed may be something to woot-woot about, but the two places are very different urban areas with very different economic and geographic contexts.

Both are seeing investments they have not experienced in a long time, if ever, and that's a good thing. For the good of the province and country, it will be great for both to prosper.

Throw London into this conversation too, why not. Again, it's yet a different context, but no less important to the future of Ontario outside of Toronto and Ottawa. Put Windsor into the discussion as well... maybe Niagara, etc..

This discussion recently came up on UT and I posted these photos. I thought I'd share here since not everyone may be on both sites.

"I can't comment on Kitchener, but Hamilton is missing at least 2 solid proposals here (one at 23 floors (Apex) and the other at 30 (Rebecca)) as well as several others that are much more preliminary.
Note: both are zoomed out to the same distance/scale. "

Only buildings ≥35m are shown. Grey = built, blue = proposed/approved, green = under construction. I've been working on getting the SSP Hamilton database updated when missing buildings (proposed and built)

These maps make me think that KW is not really leaving Hamilton in the dust, more like KW is finally catching up to Hamilton.

Hamilton has more high-rise proposals downtown from my guesstimate, but Kitchener likely has more city-wide.

Kitchener has always been a more dispersed city and this trend seems to be continuing.

Yeah, Kitchener was rather lacking before. Only place it’s getting ahead of Hamilton is in height, and that just takes one building to switch back again.

Cobalt towers are there! They're still listed as Under Construction (green). I've been submitting database changes to better reflect where the city is it in terms of proposals and completions

Weird, it's there for me -- maybe you have "only drawn buildings" selected on this page? Diagrams

This site relies on contributors to do that. I haven't looked around at parts of the world beyond Canada, but there seems to only be a few people who have done that kind of work here.

Koops65 is still cranking them out, especially for Toronto, but Realcity hasn't participated in the forums in a while and may have dropped off.
