I have to be in the office one day a week -- Friday. So no shooting from me tomorrow, unless you want photos of a conference room.

Noob here, interesting thread. I live in the Metropolitan and have a bird's eye view of the construction. I'm particularly interested in this project b/c it will likely block some (all) of my bridge view ;(

Does anyone know if the tower will be where the apostleship bldg is (was) presently? It looks that way from the renderings, but hard to tell. I'm hoping that it is and that the "pedestal" extends outward downhill. That will improve my chances of being able to see anything until they break ground on the other side of Fremont and completely screw me.

Welcome, Mike. From what I can tell, the tower will indeed be right on the corner of Harrison with the podium extending down the hill. Sorry about your view, but you will have a great perspective on the construction when it starts. We'd love it if you could share some photos from your perch when the time comes (which could be a ways off).

Nah, I've seen enough of those this week! And it doesn't matter because I forgot my camera this morning. Grrr... I'm still going to walk down there anyway, so I can give a written update.

Peanut-

Absolutely on the construction photos. I can give a quick update on the demo as well as of 8:30am this morning.

The bright orange excavator (kreocker?) has been trucked off and only the smaller machines remain. The crew is slowly taking the street-side wall down and I imagine it will drag into the early part of next week as they did not seem to accomplish that much yesterday.

These are the other building that would need to be removed for the development next door to the Californian someone was asking about. Still a big 'For Sale' sign on them. The copperworks wouldn't be demolished; it seems to have a snazzy dot com ish interior.

Only the elevator shaft and stairwell remains.

Dave... the pics of the building with the "for sale" sign on them are part of 325 Fremont which was entitled for a 25 floor (?) residential tower. The "for sale" sign means that the entitlements are for sale. To the right of those buidings is the hole in the ground in the middle of the block is where 333 Fremont will go and next to that The Californian.

I'll second that. Those buildings needed to go, and fast.

Does anyone know who the new developer from Australia really is? Anka Property Group from Australia is developing the Argenta in San Francisco. Anka Developments Inc. also has an office in San Francisco. Argenta is listed, but there are currently no other San Francisco projects shown. It is either too early, or it is some other developer.

Dave, can you show us a photo of the full vacant lot? It would warm my heart!

The now (mostly) vacant lot:

The far end is a lot farther away than it appears in this photo:
