Is it really possible Hines has finally run out of other parts of this project they could potentially phase before the tower?? What about completing the landscaping on the rail deck and riverwalk area first.....have they thought of that?.....could buy them maybe all the way until late fall/early winter until they have nothing left to work on but the actual tower itself.......

Just looked at the webcam and there is a ton of equipment on site now including two mobile cranes instead of just the one from yesterday. WTF are they doing with two big cranes? I don't see an actual cassion rig yet either, just a crawler crane they are assembling. Though I'm pretty sure they must be about to start cassions because they have a couple of those small bulldozers with the buckets on them that they use to clear away the contents of the cassion shafts.

It received a building permit yesterday to build the foundation.

So they were waiting on a permit? Hopefully now they'll pull their finger out and get this tower rising.

It appears that way, but now that they got one for the foundation, they should be able to start for real. Two large buildings downtown receive foundation permits on the same day. Very cool

I wonder if the city was playing games because of the contractor change? Why would they wait this long to get the permit otherwise?

Who knows, but it looks like a bunch of stuff in their application was denied. Architectural, Environmental, Structural, etc reviews all denied within the last month. Then it looks like that same stuff just all recently passed. Final reviews were Geotech and Architectural/Fire that passed on Wednesday

Lots of stuff under the site. One drain (Fulton St.) collapsed.

Does anyone know what they are doing on the highrise site now? What are these cranes going to be lifting? Seems like a lot of machinery with little visible movement of the site (other than that giant drainage hole that has been filled with rocks apparently).

Is the riverwalk gonna open early? Looks like they're already putting in trees which is usually a final step... It would be awesome to get that open to the public before the tower even starts rising. There may be some kind of deadline in the TIF agreement.

The yellow telescoping crane - seen driving off - was used to assemble the lager (Manitowac) Crawler.

If Case is doing the foundations they could have rented this one (same kind used to mount the big drills) or there could be more site prep before that. At both 400 N LSD and 401 N Wabash a significant amount of excavation was done before the main caisson work started.

They are installing a constant (or what is so far) row of what looks to be pine trees/pine bushes along the river facing tunnel wall, probably to ward off any further graffiti, as they realized that would be an ongoing problem, as I don't think the pines were in the original renderings.
