I took the panorama I posted yesterday and added the heights to the surrounding buildings to help give some perspective as to how River Point will fit in.

^^^ Wow great original content. I love when people come out of the woodwork to contribute something awesome to this board. So these two buildings are going to be even bigger than I was thinking as I thought 155 N Wacker was 700'. These buildings are really more on the scale of 300 N LaSalle than 155 or UBS.

Earlier today:

The construction cam Clark put up for the plaza project is still alive, even though their work is done.

150 N Riverside's construction cam is pretty handy for this one as well.

Thanks, very nice job.
Btw, what typeface is that? Looks like the one Apple liked too.

Is the lower riverwalk portion of this project going to be open to the public during construction? With the landscaping, it looks ready to open.

Is there any reason to be down there? I've never seen what foot traffic is like over there during the day.

And to get a new view of the river. I've never been able to look down the river canyon from that vantage point, except for a few seconds coming in on a Metra train. And the green glass ruins the view, and said view doesn't exist anymore.

Plus if 375 gets built this would be a great place to see it from

I was driving east from the West Loop under the L tracks on Lake St today (a remarkably urban, gritty thing to do and very sexy if big city gritty gives you a hard on like it does for me) and I'm just really looking forward to this and the 150 N Riverside project and how they are going to envelop the westward entrance to the Loop via the Green/Pink line. I imagine some serious shadows all around, certainly a nightmare for Mr. Downtown types.

People who hate shadows and darkness are going to be so pissed! Perhaps more people will move to Arizona! Skycrapers are so wonderfully evil.

I live right in that area. When we went to the neighborhood meetings about riverpoint and 150 n riverside there were a lot of comments and complaints about the shadows. The developers did a whole shadow study for everyone for the next meeting.

^^ Awesome shots! It really puts into perspective for those of us currently out of the area how MASSIVE those caissons are.

It is really amazing. It leaves me speechless. It proves that there needs to be a non-political, professional planning board that can laugh in these people's faces while they approve development, instead of the anachronistic "pay-to-play or I will stop this development in the name of shadows/parking/too dense" alderbeast system.

I was pretty rude when I did a loud HA!!! Laugh at the tower of jewel meeting awhile back when a lady complained how the building would cast shadows on her home SOUTH of the proposed tower

^^^ Pretty sure those are for the RiverWalk - same blue tape at the ends of the cages - though not sure where they are intended for.

Heh, union propaganda to be pounded into the earth. Future archeologists to wonder who Aun Ion Man was.
