IMO, height isn't everything. First, look at many beautiful cities that scarcely go over 100 meters - even then, exceptionally. Rio, Stockholm, Copenhagen.....
True, I'd love to see a couple around 185m - 225m+ right downtown (esp Burrard at Georgia) to identify the centre of the city.
But so what if the suburban towers are taller? This would stand out and, contribute to Vancouver uniqueness.
It's a city that pioneers urbanism in many ways and going against the grain isn't necessarily bad. Quality street aesthetics; lighting; mini-parks, beauty: these help make a city great.
