my wife and i went to Belfast a few weeks ago for the Game of Thrones exhibit. we first went to Dublin and arrived in Belfast late Saturday night. sadly it happened to be the weekend before the G8 conference started, so security was heavy and crowds were thin on Sunday when most these pics were taken.
it was nice to see how far the city has come since
my first visit in 2005

West Belfast is infamous as a flashpoint for The Troubles; although things are much better now there's still a virtual no-man's land between Catholic and Protestant neighborhoods, although things are slowly getting better with some of the more inflammatory murals being replaced and housing rebuilt
