With all the new retail and more to come, I think Walnut St. between Broad and 18th should turn the sidewalk and crosswalks to brick just like around Washington Square Park. Eliminate street parking in that area and extend curb cuts where you'll be able to add outdoor seating and dining along Walnut. I also think they should add a sign that designates that area as the cities priemere shopping district. Something like the Market street sign when leaving penns landing and entering old city on Market.

Still, very handsome building - wish they'd include condos as well.

Could it be that the new building sitting on the old building set the limitation in that the old building cannot bear a certain load above that height? Unless, they were willing to demolish the old building and building new foundations to support an even higher structure.

It is very offensive. I will not rant further with my estimation of the culture in which we live, but lack of respect for life and property are a common theme.

I agree, but it's way better now than it was 30+ years ago.

It's even more horrible to see in places like Rome or Paris where 500 year old buildings are defaced routinely.

Let's invent a camera system that identifies people defacing buildings and triggers an alarm that throws out some kind of net and traps them until the police arrive. Mild electronic shock in net optional. I have no idea what current punishments are for graffiti. I don't think throwing in with hardened criminals is useful. But it should be something like mandates that they spend every Saturday for 5 years cleaning graffiti off buildings. And this should be widely publicized at schools.
