The Pioneer building in downtown is set to be redeveloped into a mix of housing and retail. Details are not 100 percent solid yet, but we should know more soon.

Here is a photo of the original building which is the first skyscraper in downtown OKC.

Current state:

Very sad to report a historic and iconic restaurant is being torn down for a Discount Tire. I love Oklahoma City and even though I am in Los Angeles trying to pursue my dream of acting, I still do my best to showcase my city, but I will city, Oklahoma City absolutely sucks in regards to preserving historical structures. It is like no gives two shits. There is hardly anything left that is truly unique in the city, tons and tons of vacant land in between all of the sprawl, and yet for some reason, it's like there is a group of people who pick the historic sites to tear down what is there and build something bland.

This even happened with the Stage Center that is now a grass lot because OKC fell for the same things that left it with I.M. Pei disaster that so many beautiful buildings were torn down for and left with parking lots.

Anyways rant over and here is the building

Charcoal Oven which has been opened for over 50 years.

This wonderful development will be taking its place

Spokies, Oklahoma City's bikeshare program, is getting a major overhaul. A lot has already been done.

Thanks to OKCinsomniac of OKCTalk for this photo. They are redoing every station and replacing every bike. It is a much welcomed upgrade.

This is so sad! At the very least, the sign needs to be saved!

OKC is quite ambitious.

The convention center and park are quite attractive.

Oklahoma City selects developer for convention center hotel

Quote:
The Oklahoma City Council approved Tuesday a resolution to enter into final negotiations with Omni Hotels & Resorts to develop the Oklahoma City convention center hotel.

The selection of the developer was based on recommendations by the committee tasked with evaluating hotel proposals.

Omni Hotels proposed a conceptual 19-floor hotel with 600 rooms, approximately 50,000 square feet of meeting space, and several food and beverage outlets including two restaurants.

The hotel will be located next to the new convention center and is targeted to open with the convention center in early 2020.
