It's really only a matter of time. With the W, Dilworth, and Nordstrom Rack and Uniqlo opening multi-storey plus a fair amount of other residential and retail development along chestnut (oh and increasing rents on walnut forcing stores to relocate) this space will definitely change.

Here is the rendering from the video. It's obviously a preliminary rendering and I'm sure we'll see more in depth ones early next year.

Either way this is over 500 feet which I think is a good height.

Probably the SLS at Broad and Spruce. The new 40 story Dranoff tower.

Quoting the 6ABC video, they mentioned both the W and Element as being two hotels. Technically, that's correct, but for us highrise-o-philes, it's one building with two brands.

Where are Kanye and Kim going to eat? They love that Wendy's at 15th and Chestnut.

I'm sure they can dine at 11th and Walnut location...

Scale wise, it’s pretty similar to the Ritz which means that you’ll only see one or the other from views North and South so the skyline impact will be zilch from those main vantage points.

Yeah, I was hoping for something 600' or more -- but the rendering gives me hope that the design will be quite good. Really hoping for an elegant facade!

Yes. From a strategic location viewpont "accenting the skyline" this is about the absolute worst lot imaginable. Its going to completely block out Residence-Ritz Carlton from the south which is a pretty spectacular tower.

Now if this W tower had gone up a mere couple blocks to the east? An impact game changer for the skyline. But great news nonetheless.

No worries...

Here's a link to the docket for the new hotel:

https://phila.legistar.com/Legislati...&Search=130686

There's a "side profile" rendering shown next to the Ritz Carlton hotel on page 23/32 of "Bill No. 13068601, As Amended.pdf".

By roughly 30 feet lol. Not that much shorter... and the developer said it would be at least 550 feet.

Looks like the 50 floors includes the 6 for parking. If it was the 6 floors and 50 floors for the hotel(s), we would probably reach close to 600". Too bad.

I'm going to join the "eh" crowd on this one. Less than 600' plus my dreaded bland rectangle design--it's almost maddening.

All eyes to the ground and streetscape on this one now, hopefully our boy Blenfest doesn't f*^k that up.

I'm with others here... while I know it's only a preliminary rendering, it's a huge disappointment. Shorter than I thought it would be and a characterless rectangle. I expect more from Starwood.

Philly will get one one day. With the rate Center City is going it's only a matter of time. W Hotels are fantastic as well. That thing will always be booked.
