Antilia, the coolest home in the world

http://cdn1.images.touristlink.com

Antilia is a private home in Mumbai. It's 570 feet tall and 400,000 sq ft!!! Utterly insane. Perkins + Will designed it. It was completed in 2010 and may be my favorite thing ever.

LOL what a fucking dick! Who builds a 500 foot tall SKYSCRAPER as a home?! Haha, this is the greatest thing!

I remember reading about this years ago and loving the design, but I had no idea it was a private palace!

I saw this building last August - it's very imposing, wildly impractical and is an easily interpreted symbol for the steep economic and social divisions in Mumbai. I'm told we can expect even more of this nonsense under Modi.

I'm wondering what all the rooms and floors are for? Thats so much space for a private home. Does the owner have like their own mini city in there where he is the only citizen. Maybe one floor is just a bathroom with a toilet right in the middle?

It's hilarious, actually. 27 floors of insane opulence in a city where HALF its residents have no running water. Amazing.

All things aside though, it's really an amazing building. Perkins and Will really fucking nailed it. Really illustrates the importance of money in architecture.

I wish he would commission P+W to build his second home on Devon. Because how amazing would a 500 foot tall private palace look on Devon!?

Someone email him. Tell him it's a good idea.

Kevin O'Leary would probably think this would serve as fantastic inspiration for the poor of Mumbai.

It really is a bold and interesting-looking building, so it's truly a shame that it was built for that purpose. I imagine that there were some sleepless nights for some people at Perkins+Will who worked on this.

On another note, does this remind anyone else of the Xanatos tower in Gargoyles?
