Will CityCentre have streetside retail space or will it all be on the interior?

Actually, governor Scott had it right to banned casinos. They won't allowed it.

Old Infinity II Site Is Getting An SLS Hotel By Philippe Starck

Tuesday, February 19, 2013, by Sean McCaughan

http://miami.curbed.com/archives/201...ref_map=%5B%5D

The Related Group is doing something entirely new for the former Infinity II site in Brickell, despite having fully approved plans for, umm, the tower that would have been called Infinity II. And that 'something new' is a condo tower compliant with the new Miami 21 zoning code as well as a 132 room hotel according to news sources. But wait, there's more! We hear word over at exMiami that it's going to be an SLS Hotel, and it will be designed by that king of postmodernism, Philippe Starck. We're also going to make the very safe assumption that it won't be called Infinity II anymore.

Whatever it is, there is only 1 requirement: it must cover that hideous Infinity I podium! Infinity I's podium was designed as a blank wall because it was assumed that Infinity II would would be built along side it with an adjoining podium.

Gotta love that podium (lets just make it look like there are windows):

good call Dave. Now if they could only figure out a way to cover up the front of the podium too. There's a lot of bad podiums down here, but Infinity kind of sticks out as the worst of the worst to me.

I've often wondered, if Southern California had allowed developers from the gitgo, the freedom they have in the Miami area, to build up their miles of coastline with Miami-style high rises if this would have curtailed growth in Miami/Florida!

So exciting to see Miami move forward and upward into the 21st century!

Rendering of the new SLS Brickell on the old Infinity II site. It doesn't do a very good job of covering Infinity's podium.

Looks like a fairly generic 40-something story tower with a "chink" in the balconies.

Miami could and should do better. Not to say that's an ugly tower because it isn't. But Miami needs to go bold in design.

Maybe 1000 Musuem will bring the boldness everyone is looking for. Announcement on exactly what is coming is expected soon.
