Still pretty impressive, and hopefully will only drop in the near future if another taller building is built. Very few cities have 6 970+ foot buildings.

^ Amazing to think that the construction of 40% of those towers in the diagram were documented on this site.

Ditto. Their sweeper doesn't seem to be sucking anything up.

yep. One Chicago is a pretty big deal in terms of contemporary US skyscraper construction.

not including NYC (which is in a different skyscraper-building universe these days), One Chicago will be the 6th or 7th tallest building (depending on how you view wilshire grand's spire) to be built in the US over the past quarter century.

^That makes Detroit the home of the tallest building currently under construction outside Chicago and New York. Never thought I'd see the day.

That Detroit tower looks like a mix between One Chicago Square and NEMA.

My thoughts exactly. As a lifelong Detroiter I'm in the clouds over it.

And to continue the off-topicness ... poor Philly. Possibly the worst collection of supertalls of any city...(Dallas: "Hold my beer")

i couldn't disagree with you more strongly.

philly's new towers make for a fantastic skyline, IMO.

Comcasts new bldg is God awful. And the one before that is a piece of...um...GLASS

Edit: I had to edit the original post above to remove the snipe about Jahns bldgs in Philly. Considering my distaste for all glass skyscapers, if I have to pick an architect to do it, I tap Jahn nine times out of 10.

Although I like the philly skyline, that comcast thing...woof. It looks like NBC tower got tag teamed by 6 different architects all wanting a different endgame.

^^^ that's a funny (and apt) way of putting it.

with respect to going too far off topic, here's a interesting read on glass skyscrapers

(article from archinet news - glass skyscrapers need to be seriously reexamined)

Pretty picture, but Comcast's buildings are not what's making a good skyline there.

Both Comcast towers are ugly, fat, and boxy IMO. The photo you posted is literally the only good angle of the newest one.

Forgive my ignorance, but how the hell does Comcast need TWO towers of that size?

I like how their skyline looks surrounded by trees.
