Stud framing for the exterior envelope has started on the north end of the second floor of Burberry. It also looks like at least one fire stair is completed and the vertical HVAC ducting has been installed.

Incredible.

After this, are there any seriously dirty buildings remaining in the Loop? The Old Colony Building was finally cleaned a few years ago and now it looks spectacular.

I think there are a few, although some of the ones that remain have been cleaned in the lower floors and are only really dirty higher up.

^The Board of Education (Edison) Building at NEC Clark & Adams. I think perhaps there's worry that it look bad to spend the money on cleaning rather than education.

Hmm... That building has a pretty mutilated cornice, too. Maybe a candidate for TIF?

Also: since when has CPS been concerned about the appearance of impropriety?

Not sure if ten floors count as highrise or gen dev (I would label it as a lowrise), so I put it here.

Curbed via Belmont Harbor Neighbors Association is reporting that the stalled project at 434 W. Melrose is being developed as apartments. Yay for blah pomo!

(Picture from the doc on Belmont Harbor Neighbors Association labeled Site Plan)

With the right materials, this could look okay, but i doubt we'll see that...

I don't think anyone has posted any updates on the park going in where the Wacker - Eisenhower ramps used to be (moving underground) though it was discussed a few weeks back. YoChicago has a video with updates from a couple days ago. The first minute or so is nice, Joe Zekas mentions that apparently there will be a dog park, which I did not know. But it quickly devolves into one of Zekas' thinly veiled ads which I find fun to watch, though not extremely informative.

Now all we need is for some of those south wacker drive proposals to become a reality and this area can be pretty awesome!

Wow, I can't believe that project is back. It's been like 5-7 years since the first version came out. I thought it was destined to become a mega-mansion or something. So while I'm not a fan of the design, I'm happy with the turn of events.

What do you mean by "not extremely informative" The excellent quality of the video and perspective speaks of the updates enough. His videos and images have provided great utility to this forum. We should be the last people to criticize.

Not sure if this has been posted, but VDT revised plans and reduced building by one floor. May 2012 presentation in link below:

They don't mention unit counts, but it looks like it may be the same number of units, just in a different configuration. That would be a win in my book.

Looks like the unit count is similar, if not higher, than the previous iteration. I really hope this project gets off the ground soon, the design is a breath of fresh air for the neighborhood, and from the renderings it looks quite sharp with only a few minor exceptions.
