Brooklyn at Bernard Block. First time I see this rendering. This is a project I am personally very interested in. Perfect place to build up in Kelowna.

^^Agreed. Great spot. I'm curious to see what the white and green portions of the facade will be. I kind of hope we see something a bit more unique than just painted concrete. Brick maybe or a combination of different materials. As long as it's not BEIGE, please lord...

FYI both the first tower at the Brooklyn (above) and the “Jenga” tower on Cedar Ave (South Pandosy) received first reading from Council yesterday and will go to Public Hearing on July 31.

Went to Kelowna's downtown block party yesterday and Mission Group had a display for Brooklyn on Bernard in front of their Ella showhome. Their rep said Ella was over 80% sold out and Brooklyn is expected to begin sales in August (21st) I believe. Apparently they are quite optimistic about Brooklyn due to its location as well as Ella's sales numbers. I believe Brooklyn is also more favourably priced so it could be a more accesible to a larger segment of the population.

This is an exciting time for Kelowna. We have so far:
-One Water Street West
-One Water Street East
-Ellis Parc
-Ella
-Brooklyn (appears to be a go)
-Others I'm sure I'm missing

Now, if I knew there was a larger and newer supermarket (other than the Safeway on Bernard), I'd consider selling my house and moving down too! In my opinion a new supermarket (the type of Whole Foods, Choices, or Nature's Fare) would be the catalyst for downtown.

There is a Nesters there, but it's a bit too far to walk to from downtown.

I think we'll see an urban grocer move in to downtown in the next five to ten years if all of these projects go ahead.

I'm leaving Shanghai today for my annual return. It seems like there are a few new active Kelowna members on SSP now. Maybe we should do a downtown meet up sometime in August. It'd be nice to meet everyone over a beer.

Sounds good to me.

I will probably be in Kelowna for a couple days around August 10th - 12th.

Would also love to go far a walk around Knox Mountain Park (and downtown).

Prep work begins next week for widening Airport Way. Phase one includes an extra westbound lane for leaving the airport. Much needed!

Seriously? How about instead of spending money on minor tweaks, why not just upgrade the entire intersection and do an overpass already! It's the largest airport in the interior of BC and we don't have proper infrastructure for it. They should have done it before all the airport business park developments but now is better than never.

Building an interchange would probably require a complete reworking of the terminal access as a whole, which is a way more expensive venture. At any rate, adding one lane isn't a symptom of needing a entire interchange here.

How about an interchange. Lots of room to build one.

I've never had an issue getting out of the airport, most of the issues have to do with the Airport Way intersection by Airport Plaza which a traffic light would solve.

I was in Kelowna for a few days, but only made it downtown once. I'm heading back today for a couple of weeks, so I'll try to take some construction shots.

Not a ton of obvious progress on the downtown towers. Lots of cranes but no concrete yet. Will be fun to watch these babies go up from my place! I'll upload lots of pics as they start to get off the ground.

Yeah, was great to see all the work going on in Kelowna. I also notice that many of the streetscapes are looking really polished.

Took a bunch of pics, will post in a few days after I get back to Japan.
