It's okay, I think we're healing. Well, at least I don't think about that anymore in the subway or on any large public spot.

This support which came to us from all over the world, and was particularly vibrant from Western places like this one and ours was something essential. It was absolutely huge and comforting from the Americas and all over Europe. It may be a commonplace to say, but really it feels much less painful once you know you're not alone.

Everyone please be extra careful when taking pictures. I was in Atlanta, and on July 21, was robbed a gun point while taking a skyline shot of Atlanta on the overpass of Pryor Street over IH 75/85. I was taking a great low shutter shot of all the traffic flowing into downtown on a tripod. A car spotted me and made a stop. One person ran to me and grabbed my tripod, and I held on and wouldn't let go, then they pulled the gun. So I let it go. It was a Canon 5D mark III. I didn't get to keep the memory card either. I have been traveling for years doing photographs of cities and still in shock that this happen. Just be aware of your surroundings. It didn't seem dangerous of an area, but I could be wrong. I don't know what I could have done differently. Atlanta is very beautiful sad that this is a memory I won't forget.

Sorry to hear this happened to you in Atlanta, but glad that you weren't injured in that altercation.

Alas, random crime and violence is not uncommon even in areas that superficially appear to be safe, such as "posh" Buckhead. You were close to downtown, where crime is somewhat more prevalent. Still, I really don't think there's anything you could have done differently.

You did exactly the right thing...when the gun comes out you let go. That area is very exposed and crime downtown in the commercial areas is almost nonexistent so this is a very uncommon situation. It sounds like some thieves were out for whatever they could get and happened to see you (a tourist taking photos) as they drove by and you just made an easy target. If you hadn't been alone or if there were other pedestrians around I doubt it would have happened. Sorry this ruined your trip but I hope you won't let it ruin your thoughts of Atlanta overall. It could honestly happen anywhere. I hope you keep doing what you do and would love to see some Atlanta photos by you one day!
