From the IPNA, the villa de grip parcel is proposed to get 135 parking spaces in a 3 story parking garage, with two levels of office and restaurant space. Other project details not yet included on the site:

"Regan Hammond gave updates on Renew Atlanta and the plans for 3 upcoming projects: Euclid and Edgewood, Krog St and Lake Ave and N. Highland from Alaska to Elizabeth St. Full plan details will be available at Inmanpark.org."

Need to correct my previous post. The Medical Arts Building changed ownership several months ago. The new owner is Global X, a recognized developer with no connection to the previous owner.

Is the Krog and Lake Avenue project the gravel parking lot adjacent to the Beltline and across the street from Krog Street? Would love to see that eyesore developed.

A permit for a new hotel was filed today for 300 Luckie St. downtown. The site sits across the street from the Georgia Aquarium.

The developer appears to be Songy Highroads. http://songyhighroads.com/

That must have been the Cousins proposal. How in the world do they choose Portman over this and sleep at night!

Maybe Portman is pushing them some money under the table. That said, I actually kind of like the CODA design. It's the Portman design for the lot to its south that really has me bummed.

Not surprised. Atlanta always gets the crappy developments these days while the good stuff is scrapped or "valued engineered".

Midtown is on fire per this Metro ATL office report: http://www.colliers.com/-/media/file...rketreport.pdf

Quote:
At 10.6%, Midtown boasts the lowest Class A vacancy rate
of Atlanta’s major offi ce districts. The amount of vacant
space in the submarket is at its lowest level in sixteen years
and has created somewhat of a supply constraint here
Interestingly South Atlanta beat out Buckhead in office absorption...

That doesn't look like the type of building that encourages the "collaborative collisions" that CODA is going for.

Based on their portfolio, I won't be holding my breath for a remarkable building.

Someone's claim from reddit:

Quote:
I was a part of that bid. That was the Cousins / Hines / Internap proposal and it was one of two finalists for the project. It was hard to overcome John Portman's donations to Georgia Tech.

It is true that many tech companies these days would prefer their entire workforce on one floor, if possible, to drive collaboration. The Portman CODA design would clearly do a better job of promoting this activity.
