This moves student living to the west end of Drexel's campus. South end residential housing is already occurring. But the big move for Drexel will be to add student housing on the East end. This will allow UCity to become fully connected with Center City along Market and Chestnut Streets...

They do have plans for residential, office and educational towers all around 30th Street Station... no worries. Word is a 30 story tower at 30th and Market is in the works. No renders yet. That will be the first of many... many of which are supposed to be completed between 2017 and 2020.

Some renders here

Looks like the taller tower will be 25 floors. Smaller tower has possibly been nixed. Along Lancaster, it seems like the building will be 8 floors.

Can we get a title change for this? The buildings name will now be "Lancaster Square" and it will rise 25 floors at 279 feet.

I like the angles on this building. if the renderings are accurate, it will be a nice addition to the Drexel campus / U-City skyline.

At 25 floors will this be visible from the east side of the river? In other words, will this be seen from CC? I think this is a great looking building and I'm jealous we aren't getting it in CC - would look good in the old Forum lot, yes?

I'm hearing that the neighborhood association is having an issue with the size of this project. Anyone else know more?

So Ramsa is out and SCB is in? I wonder why they decided to make a switch.

so their two complaints are 1. that its not big enough to keep up with increasing student enrollment (it needs to be bigger) and 2. it will lead to too many night-walking students (it needs to be smaller).

Well, this is not the ONLY new residence hall Drexel plans to build. They plan to build several more highrises around 30th street station. The neighborhood association needs to cool their jets.

Look at the folks in that photo. I think they are going to protest any sort of development beyond a tree and a lawn. And that may be too much for them.
