Great contribution .....

It is not a proposal it is a vision.

Perhaps not so retarded if it was drawn in your city.

Certainly a different design but would they be able to fill this thing or have it pay for itself.

I wonder if something scaled back, say half the height is more possible?

The tower looks amazing but the design doesn't make sense economically or spacewise. Most "sky cities" try to resolve the issue of lack of space in metropolitan areas while being affordable for the general public. This is just for shows. Nice design though.

- I agree - thank you.

While this is only a vision I like the design - probably because it is more or less architectural porn.

It was drawn up quite a while ago. The comparison shows the Burj Dubai at 705 meters and still calls Tall Tower the Pinnacle.

They really should have kept the name Al Burj instead of Tall Tower. Now I know it's likely to change given how unpopular it sounds, but still.

This tower will cost trillions and trillions... With no taxes at all, only the oil revenue, I don't see how the government can give enough money for the tower. Some of the money will come from investors but who have enough money to build this?

Only if the entire thing is built out of carbon nanotubes or something, otherwise maybe something like 20 billion with ordinary material.

I hope they're not using "ordinary material" to build that monster...

I think this article is bullshit though. Pretty much all of the info is stolen from here and SSC
This will never be built. Atrium City Towers on the other hand might and if they are then they'll become the first sky city in the world. They're something to keep an eye on. Since they're designed by Adrian Smith you can pretty much be sure they'll be buildable unlike this.

Damn... I thought this thread was meant to be some April's fool looking at the thread title

I actually don't like all this tacky stuff going up in Dubai.

But this... Hell, just build it!
It definitely has that certain Star Wars appeal I absolutely love. Just imagine to use an elevator out of glass right in the middle of this, looking out to the city!

Incredible.
