^ Once again, the only part of the "bureaucratic red tape" that is a meaningful barrier is the zoning, which was secured long ago.

At least if you are talking about the city. The other huge barrier, of course, is $$$

Although challenging, Vista Tower can be seen from the NOAA webcam on Lake Michigan and has been visible from at least the 10th of May. Below are images collected on 11 and 15 May.

Bvic, Solar, and Harry, thank you for taking the time for these shots. It's like a free education for us amateur skyscraper nerds on the forum. Also, this has got to be the longest cement pourer I've seen in Chicago. Does the crane hook up and hold it for support when it is stretched that long? Or is the rig strong enough to support itself?

When the end gets bouncing (harmonics with the pump ?) the guy on the end just guides it a bit. A big selling point for much of this equipment is that it doesn't require boom time. The concrete pump/boom, the climbing forms for the core, even the screens on the outside.

Had a feeling we would see this core lift off from the rest of the structure. This is going to be a badass construction site to watch rise. The West core is already getting close to the top of the lobby level and into the hotel floors. Soon this will be visible rising from all sorts of angles.

I'm running the JP Morgan Corporate Challenge this evening. The race route loops down Middle Wacker. Looking forward to getting my first in-person look at the construction.

Garage is entirely "below grade" from Wacker. Once the lobby and funky conference spaces are done, this suckers gonna take off as if it's not already cruising along for such a large and complex project. Magellan and Wanda have to be very happy with the contractor at this point.
