It is surprising how many multi million dollar high rise units have hideous interiors. Rich people can have some terrible taste, but nothing is inexpensive. So now they are trying to sell some $4million unit with pink granite walls and candelabra fixtures. Chance’s unit looks great. Ready for a 25 y/o to live in.

Agreed. I think Chance's unit looks very well done. Would much rather live here than a gaudy unit in a more "prestigious" building.

How to throw out extra concrete

Well that's it for your view.

This has not been my experience whatsoever. I mean you kind of have a point with the clouds, but cloudy days suck either way so the point is moot to me. I don't know what part of the city you would be in where you would have to be face up to the glass and standing to see other buildings above let's say 700 feet :/

Oh I definitely think the unit itself looks fine, but I'm not a fan of the building nor its location

I wish the original cornice had been reinstalled at its original location.

Seeing as that parting wall has no windows, it'll be interesting to see if anything is proposed in the future where the low-rise buildings are. Combine the area of those small buildings, incorporate the vintage building on the corner, turn it into apartments and do something tall and thin on the low-rise site.

Just dreaming... With all the announcements and proposals over the last six months, one gets greedy.

^ It doesn’t look like it would need to be tall and thin. Those two low rises provide quite a big footprint (and the black one looks ready for demolition already).

Anyway, that’s a seriously jarring and awkward addition to the terra cotta building. What on Earth were they thinking? Horrible piece of work.

The addition to me looks a lot like the glass for the Viceroy Horel.

Usually architects try to make new additions look contemporary, so that the integrity of the historic building remains clear.

I don’t think it’s jarring, but I wish there was some kind of cornice-like element on top of the glass portion, right now it just ends too abruptly.

I understand that, but it still lacks context and the bright blue is garish.

I swear to god the people on this forum need to learn the definition of the word "garish". Tacky/poorly executed does not equate garish, which means: obtrusively bright and showy; lurid

Please stop trying to use fancy sounding words that you don't understand. It's pathetic

Now that we've got a grammar marm on the scene. I'd like to opine that this is indeed proper usage for "garish" bc it's pretty clear dude thinks it's lurid. So lets reread Strunk & White before calling other forumers pathetic for their usage. Thank you!

Notyrview telling people to behave nicely to each other. That's rich

Regardless, people can have thoughts, but that doesn't make them true. That shad of blue isn't lurid. That's an objective fact, we aren't talking about art here, we are talking about shades of colors and very dark shades of blue at that. You are also one of the people to abuse the word garish to sound overtly posh and educated
