Better to just make public transit cleaner, safer, more efficient. Both are probably pipe dreams (efficient transit and a high level of car pooling) in the Bay Area but I prefer transit. Nevertheless, the incredible congestion downtown on those ramps as in the photo and the streets leading to them has only gotten worse and likely will continue to until the economy turns down and a lot of those people get fired. As somebody who lives in the city and mostly stays in the city, I do feel sorry for those who don't/can't and have to deal with that mess every day. Preaching to or about them doesn't help them or anything.
