A little hike through the Battery neighbourhood this morning.

Video Link

Look closely at the first curve in the trail and you can see wee people down there.

^That's Prince street I think. Between Commune and Wellington.

Looks bladerunner-ish in that photo.

First noticed in the Hamilton section, but deserves broader attention:

Quote:
When her husband got his pilot's license, Anita Thomas feared she'd lose him to his new hobby. She had a terrible fear of heights and had little interest in climbing into the cockpit of a small plane and joining him on his flights.

Yet she knew her fear was irrational. Thomas, after all, was no stranger to danger. She had raced motorcycles competitively as a teenager growing up in Burlington. (A mother of two grown children, Thomas still enjoys riding her Triumph Street Triple along the back roads of Ontario.)

So one day, back in 2007, Thomas summoned up the courage to join her husband on one of his flights. She brought along her camera to give her something to do on the flight, help take her mind off her fear of heights.

The strategy worked … and then some.

Thomas is now one of the top aerial and aviation photographers in Canada. She has turned it into an art.

One from her website, which is worth a look:

you're probably referring to that 14-storey condo building. Part of the 21iem arrondissement condo project currently going up near McGill street.

The Venezuelan Navy is in town. jeddy1989 (fluent in Spanish) knows basically every immigrant in the city from South America. Lots of those folks have been hanging out with the Venezuelans and taking them on tours of the city.

Fascinating to see what they're photographing.

The mall is BY FAR the biggest hit with the female sailors, while the male ones seem to be posing with cars on the street and local ladies. . Love it.

This was such a nice treat this week. We lost the Portuguese, and the Icelanders. Even the Russians are coming less. I love when there's a huge group from one country visiting the city. It has a completely different feeling from the normal tourist season. It's like everybody gets a little possessive, almost like they're personal houseguests, and lots of people learn a little something about the country they came from, etc. Hopefully this will be the start of an annual visit or two for the Venezuelans.

This missus. The Venezuelans opened up their ship to free tours. This is what she put on, in the freezing cold, to go down. Best kind sure. I LOVE her!

And one other quick thing... private school, must be nice. St. Bonaventure's held its annual Harry Potter Day. Via FB:
