As yankeesfan mentioned in the supertall thread, we have a dozen 200m+ projects where construction is imminent.

Soon, we'll have at least 30 200m+ buildings u/c.

Can we move this to u/c section?

Great news and pic sets guys.

As the dozens of 600-800 foot towers finish up that are u/c, a whole new crop of towers are set to rise, keeping us crane watchers happy.

15 East 30th Street Ready to Rise in Midtown Manhattan

Quote:
Following the consolidation and subsequent demolition of a $102 million parcel of four properties located along 30th and 31st Streets between Fifth and Madison Avenues in the NoMad district of Midtown Manhattan, construction is set to begin at the site of 15 East 30th Street. Designed by Handel Architects for JD Carlisle Development and the Fosun Group, the soon-to-rise 51-storey and 180-unit luxury condo tower will occupy an irregular plot of land, with retail frontage along Madison Avenue, and entrances on both 30th and 31st Streets, with the tower itself set back from the street.

First Full Look At 15 East 30th Street, Midtown South Condo Tower

Quote:
The intersection of Fifth Avenue and 30th Street has substantial existing density, but the construction projects now underway on many of the surrounding blocks will soon result in one of the most dramatic height spurts any neighborhood has seen in the past few decades. The length of Fifth Avenue above Madison Square Park is increasingly prime real estate for supertalls, and while 15 East 30th Street falls slightly short of that typology’s 1,000′ minimum, it will still make a major impact on the skyline. Now, YIMBY has several new renderings of the tower, which is just getting under construction.

Handel Architects is designing the building, which will stand 756 feet and 51 floors to its rooftop. There will be 180 residential units in total, spanning 295,970 square feet, for an average size of 1,644 square feet, while the ground floor will also hold 7,500 square feet of retail space. J.D. Carlisle is developing alongside Fosun Group.

The tower will rise closer to Madison then Fifth Avenue, placing it relatively far east compared to the tall buildings rising in the surrounds. 281 Fifth Avenue will be rising on the northwest corner of the block to the southwest, while directly to the west, 8 West 30th Street is also is also set to rise. The trio will also be joined by the area’s first supertall, at 262 Fifth Avenue.

This building is pretty sexy. Wish it were a bit taller, but it will still have a significant skyline presence.

Foundation Work Complete For 51-Story Tower At 126 Madison Avenue, Midtown South

Quote:
Applications for 15 East 30th Street were filed with the DOB back in September of 2014, and YIMBY posted initial images in early 2015. Since the first permits were pulled, the tower’s height has been reduced slightly, falling from 53 floors and 825 feet down to the current 51 stories and 756 feet.

The tower will total just over 300,000 square feet in all, with a 7,500 square-foot retail component on the ground floor divided between frontages on East 30th Street, and another with an address of 126 Madison Avenue. Above, about 295,000 square feet will be divided amongst 180 condominiums, averaging over 1,600 square feet apiece.

Handel Architects is designing the building, and progress since July has been significant, [...] completion is expected by the end of 2019.

Abseed on that street-level render, the base-to-primary facade transition is maybe as seamless as it gets.

This is another beauty created by people who knowhow to "curb" their enthusiasm.

IOW, I sense that they could've gone ham on the aesthetics and all that; but the timeless presence of ESB close by keeps itat a respectful level.

Maybe they could've...?....used something besides blue reflective, cos it's getting a wee bit monotonous. Then again, it doesn't dominate in this part of the skyline.
