Aviation/Airport Operations and Procedures

I agree with the creation of a thread relating to airport operations - which is not directly related to construction.

In response to Stormer here . . . . :

Yes, Regina has four runways - which are split among two runway surfaces. Runways 13-31 runs SE/NW; and Runways 08/26 run E/W respectively.

A runway heading is determined by its orientation in degrees magnetic, e.g. 126 degrees will be rounded up to 130 degrees - or be labelled as: Runway 13. (124 degrees - rounded down to 120 degrees would be Runway 12 etc.)

Interesting thread but could this have topic have been covered in the:

Saskatoon and Regina Air Service Thread?

Rather than 2 threads covering air operations in Sask.?

Perhaps; however, airport-related matters with regards to as to how/why airport/aviation-related activities happen the way they do was initiated and discussed on pages 398-399 on the Regina Construction II thread. This thread is basically originated from those two pages.

Airport construction isn't the same as airport/aviation ops. (What-the-hell; 'can't hurt.)

Me too! (I dragged this over from the pages he referred to.) Unfortunately, the production relies on real life tragedies. I think most people who visit this thread will be aware of the show, but for those who haven't seen it, the good news is in most cases the cause of the accidents is determined. That must have prevented many future incidents. I believe all pilots would find it informative. (Discovery Channel - varying times)
