DETROIT.

1. View of downtown Detroit from Hart Plaza on the Detroit River. At least two of the skyscrapers in this image are facing foreclosure.

2. Campus Martius Park with the 47 story Penobscot Building in the background. The owners of the Penobscot are no longer paying the mortgage.

3. You can buy the house on the left for $24,900. Over 4000 sq.ft.; walking distance from CBD.

4. Michigan Central Depot (operated from 1914-1988). Favorite haunt of urban explorers.

5. Fisher Building and (on the right) Cadillac Place (former GM world headquarters).

6. Some houses in the formerly exclusive Indian Village neighborhood:

7. Merchants Row along Woodward Ave.
On the right is the site of the former Hudson's department store which was once the 2nd largest store in the USA.
It later became the largest single building ever imploded.

8. Some remains of the Packard automobile plant. This near east side site site has been abandoned for decades.
There are other factories like this along with a some that still operate.

9. A typical view of 8-Mile road, the norther boundary of the city. Also used as the name of Eminim's movie.

10. Downtown Detroit from the east (it looks better from a distance):

All of these pictures (including higher res versions) are on my flickr account:

The Hammer in 11 (the first ones a Google Satellite img of the area cause I thought it'd be cool)...a little gritty and random, but that's the way we roll in Steeltown!

Here's the view I think of whenever I ask people "Ever been to Hamilton?"

But if they take the time to actually stay awhile, one may be surprised...

Hell, stay and take in the game because the Tiger Cats are Hamilton!

We have our sunny days...

And our grey days too...I'm not gonna lie, it was a smoggy night in July here...

But take us as you will..we could always use a few more heads in town

That is a cool Google Maps picture. The water looks a bit like a pair of bubbles. I like the skyscrapers in the smog, too.

Here are some from Minneapolis:

Mist.

The Hollidazzle Parade along Nicollet Mall.

A skyway. Part of the 70+ enclosed block system connecting the second levels of downtown buildings.

Over the Mississippi from the Southeast - A thunderstorm approaching.

Cedar Riverside, LRT to Downtown

A little more Industrial

From Boom Island

Downtown from the North, perched atop a parking garage wall.

I'm sure you're all awfully sick and tired of looking at photos of Chicago. . . this god forsaken shit-hole is far too over-represented on these forums and for that I apologize. . . but first here's a set of 10 from the grid. . .
