Wow, I hadn't even noticed it from the photos you took last week, but if you look it's kinda obvious. Thanks for posting them all.

That's an interesting point. Is there any other point in NY's history - or any other city other than Dubai - where there were four 1,000+ ft. towers under construction simultaneously?

Well, technically there are only 4 supertalls in NYC right now. Those are the Empire State Building, Bank of America Tower, Chrysler Building and New York Times Building. If you count in the old WTCs then that is 6 in NYC's entire history

The most ever being built at once was 2
1930- ESB and Chrysler
1972 - WTC 1 and WTC 2
2007 - NYT Building and BOA Building

and now
2011 - 1 WTC, 2 WTC, 3 WTC and Carnegie 57

A noteworthy point (and not to start any arguments, so please don't go there, people) the only other time all the roof heights were over 1,000 feet was 1972. Chrysler is 925 and both BofA and NYTimes are less than 900.

If things heat up like signs are beginning to show on the west side, we could have more. Large towers like Manhattan West and Hudson Yards are showing signs of movement, and even 15 Penn could strike at any time. What we need also are more of the slender, residential type supertowers. Carnegie 57 is a good start, now we need to get the Tower Verre in motion.

Wow! It's really beginning to shoot up (over a floor in the last week, I'd say... hard to tell exactly as it's being built a bit funky relative to what I'm used to seeing.)

Within a few months it'll be making its presence known on the skyline, hopefully.

The building just to the east of Carnegie 57 (the one with no windows on its west side) is 90m, so from that you can gauge how tall C57 is.

My guess would be somewhere between 35-40m.
